for example, i think most everyone knows that christmas trees are a pagan symbol as opposed to christian. but what about exchanging gifts, kissing under the mistletoe, singing carols, etc? and on easter, is there a religious significance in painting and hiding eggs? i grew up catholic and always celebrated holidays in these ways because it was "the thing to do". but now i wonder what the connection is, if there is a connection at all. if anyone knows of any good websites that address this, please share. i've looked, but still have questions. thanks!

My grandmother recently fell in her apt. below us and had to be taken to the hospital. She has dementia and we had 24hr. care for her. She doesn't remember anything; forgets the time, forgets what you told her seconds ago, forgets that she ate. After long family discussions the week she was in the hospital my family made the decision to send her to a nursing home since she was already out of the house and so that the hospital could handle her transport right there.

This is really taking a toll on my father; her son. He is constantly irrirated, doesn't like it at all when you have to bring up the nursing home to talk about what is happening now, and just doesn't seem like himself. Have any of you gone through this? What could we do to make this easier for him and for all of us?

Thanks

in 2004, my boyfriend gave me his moms engagement ring as a 'promise/engagement' ring. We had just graduated highschool so he didnt have the money for his own. I knew beforehand he was going to give it to me, cause his mom couldnt keep a secret, so i was not at all surprised when/where he did it... in fact, his mom told him where & when she thought it was best to do it, so it wasnt even HIS original idea. I pretended i had no idea.

About 2 weeks ago i felt bad about making him feel bad (i have some anger issues from being abused as a child i am working through with a counselor, i dont yell or get abusive but i pull back from people around me) I was tired of hurting him, so i took off the ring and put it on the night stand. We made up a couple of hours later.. i didnt want to just tak the ring back do i told him if/when he wanted to.. he could

I texted a friend today saying how i still dont have the ring back, and how i was getting worried because its still just

Shame of nudity is not at all a result of "original sin" but it is in fact a result of parents programming their children with their own irrational belief systems?

A mighty flowing out is God
He flows throughout the ages
And so to flow Himself to man
He is in many stages
Yet still one God is He
One flow eternally
His stages pave teh way
To flow through man today
And now He flows within us!

In the beginning we can see
God as a flowing river
The river to convey the tree
Himself as Life Deliver
And at the end the same
The River doth remain
God in the Lamb doth flow
The Tree prevails to grow
And God flows on forever

God flowed Himself to a man
The man we call Christ Jesus
He gave up His own life for man
And God's own Life releases
Though Satan did his best
To put the flow to rest
He had Him crucified
And cruelly pierced His side
BUT OUT CAME BLOOD AND WATER!

Materially speaking Life is the body; spiritually speaking
it is the Ultimate Consciousness. It depends on how you
look at it.
Killing the innocent body is certainly wrong. Suicide must
be committed on the mind, where the suffering is deposited,
and not on the body, which is insentient and feels nothing.
The mind is the real culprit, being the creator of the anguish
which tempts to suicide, but by an error of judgement, the
innocent, insentient body is punished for it.

Paul said, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness". I have found that thoses who blaspheme God by sugggesting that God's word through the scripture is not the only authority of Truth find themselves wrapped in Heritical teachings.

Is God's word not enough for you?

I went to a work-related gathering Friday night and struck up a conversation with the secretary's husband, who is a minister. During our conversation he said various things like 'Peace out'... 'De-lish'... and 'Oh....... snap!'

Any thoughts?

What is the best way to talk to my friend about dying?
What is the best way to pray for my friend?

She is 39 years old, several years ago she was diagnosed with diabetes. Then, her health began to go down hill quickly. She was put on a pancreas and kidney transplant list as both of her kidney's combined output is only ten percent. Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure so she was taken off of the transplant list.

When we were young we went to church together but I am unsure whether or not she is saved. The doctor has just told her family that she has maybe three or four months to live. They have said they do not want to tell her yet because they think she will just give up. I am visiting with her tonight at 5pm Central and I ask for your suggestions and PRAYERS. I want to comfort her and let her know that Jesus loves and comforts her too.

Any suggestions?

Anyone who has ever read a National Geographic is probably aware that there are people in this world who walk around naked all the time, and without any shame whatsoever.

Any parent knows that very young kids don't mind running around naked. It's only after they get older that they begin to have shame, after they've been taught by their parents to be ashamed.

I have always said that the human mind (or brain) is not like a computer at all. Instead, it is more like a radio receiver. That is, it picks up ideas and thoughts from whatever "station" it is tuned toward. That means that an unknown "something" out in space is always broadcasting. Bad thoughts come from evil broadcasters; while good and productive come from the good, or God Himself. Do you agree?

I read the Bible, but it didn't seem like anything more than a collection of stories and myths.

I'm not trying to believe for emotional reasons, because my feelings are usually wrong.
