Paul said, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness". I have found that thoses who blaspheme God by sugggesting that God's word through the scripture is not the only authority of Truth find themselves wrapped in Heritical teachings.

Is God's word not enough for you?

Yes, because Paul said that it is true because Jesus Christ appointed him to be his insturment, Therfore he spoke on behalf of God through the Holy Spirt.
Read Act 9 about Pauls conversion.

pixie, I think you prove my point. You have a low view of scripture because you do not think it is God breathed. Therfore you rely on outside sources. The bible teaches that God's word is sufficent. Any other view would be a Heretical teaching.

I agree with you. Heretical teachings definately stem from a low view and a poor revelation of the scriptures.
I also found that herital teachings stem from one man's ambition. If this person wants a name for himself.. creating a teaching that comes from him that has little to do with what the divine revelation in the word reveals.
Many are blow away by various waves and teachings because we do not know the word for ourselves. There is not that much of a deposit of the Word of God in our being. The word in us gives the Lord so much to speak to us about.. Gives the Spirit a richer vocabulary to guard our hearts and thoughts. The Word admonishes us to let the WOrd of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom.. teaching and admonishing oneanother with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.. singing with grace in our hearts to God.
Even these songs hymns and spiritual songs have their root in the word and are directly taken from the WOrd.

But i see your burden ...The Word of God is the only truth in this Universe. Outside of it there is lies .. the whole world lies in the Evil one...
THe WOrd has to NOT just be in our hand.. it has to be laboured on to be dwelling in our being. Renewing us.. feeding and norishing us... causing us to Grow and Transform day by day in our inward parts.. conforming us to the IMage of Christ, Who Himself is the Living Word of God.

No, it is not. The Bible is a completely unreliable source. In the 300's CE, the Vatican decided to do a mass revision to create an "official" Bible. There were over 400 Scriptural writings at the time, including the Old Testament. The Church leaders had kind of a problem, though. Most of the Bible books contradicted each other. To decide what they wanted to teach, they voted on many things. The main one was the divinity of Jesus. Slightly more than half thought they should have him be divine and the literal Son of God while the rest thought he was only a very important prophet, though still a mere human. The final decision was to use only the Scriptures that corresponded with that.

The next order of business was to use the Bible to make a religion that didn't contradict this decision. They gathered up all of the books of the Bible they could get their paws on and eliminated those that didn't agree with their teachings. This was mainly books describing Jesus as only a man as well as those of the Old Testament speaking of the Messiah as a man who would come to save them, not the Son of God. These books were burned, lowering the number to about seventy. These were also seriously revised and eventually compiled into the modern "official" Bible. This was translated from Greek and Hebrew to Latin and spread around the Roman Empire. Unfortunately, much was lost in the translation. For example, the word "virgin" used to describe Mary, the mother of God, was a mistranslation from the Hebrew word meaning "young girl." The bulk of the Christian religion is banking on their belief that Jesus was immaculately conceived, thus making him more than a man. However, the original Bible writings claim no such thing. The unfortunate fact that anyone accepts the Bible as historical fact is very sad and displays the sheer gullibility of modern society. It really is quite pathetic.

At one time, believing that God's word through the scripture was the only authority, without also recognizing the authority of the Church and the Pope was considered heretical.

Heresy is merely disagreement with the Orthodox view. In many ways, both Jesus and Paul were heretics.

No to both questions. For a complete answer to the first, I'd do some research on the histories of various heresies through out history.

For the second question, I do not see and have not found any evidence that the Bible is a trustworthy source of information about God.

Heretical teaching usually starts from those who think that they have some 'special' knowledge that the Bible does not have. Historically, a heresiarch typically assumes the role of Jesus and begins to issue commands and demand the worship and devotion due ONLY to Christ.

First of all "heretical" teaching is not heretical--it is simply a different interpretation. Since all interpretations of the bible are made by men and are therefore fallible, "heretical" teachings are just that--different opinions. These teachings do not necessarily take a low view of the bible, simple are a different way to look at the ultimate truth buried within the scriptures.

So because Paul said that, it means it is true?

You need a little more substance than that.

Unless you had a pre-existing belief or deference to the bible stemmed from childhood indoctrination or it forms part of what has been an emotional and community experience within your faith, you will need some more evidence to convince a non-Christian.

A bible writer's claims that the bible is God's infallible word is not proof. It's self-testimony. So objective sources are also needed and all sides must be heard as well.

I think there was a thousand year time limit on that contract.

And it's "wordS". What is the big deal with plural/ singular stuff in the bible?

Isn't it God words too that we are suppose to stone our daughters to death if they aren't a virgin on their wedding night?

And why is it call free will if we get the "choice" to kiss Gods toes or burn for all eternity? That's not much of a choice.

And why is God so worried about what we do with our pee-pee parts? Can't he mind his own darn business?
