Over the past few months when I lost my faith, I lost my praying habit. What used to be a soulful heart to heart talk with God is not a "God thanks for all you've done, forgive me all my sins and protect me, in jesus name i pray amen" I cant go further than that.
What do you include in your prayers? What do u feel when u pray?
There was this one time i and some friends were praying, when it came a friend of mine's turn, he prayed and when he was done I and the others felt this sudden calm. it felt so good! That is the one time I have ever felt that way... have YOU felt that in prayer before? if so how did you come about that? ...

Asimov says he does not need God to do good because (i) he has a conscience and (ii) he fears civil punishment. Conscience: the Law of Human Nature; the Rule of Decent Behavior; Moral Law; the Rule of Right and Wrong. Where did we get that?

Isn't it contradictory to believe that Jesus set the perfect example for us to live by and how he lived a sinless life (did not break any of the commandments given to Moses) and yet Christians reject the Law that He obeyed?

I made a promise with God that if my leg pain would go away that I would stop masturbating. Well I did but I really want to do it again. Do you think he would send me to hell for breaking the promise? Also I keep having nightmares that I'm being sent to hell because I masturbated.

I am an atheist. But I am respectful of faith, and I understand that faith is a different type of thought with different aims than scientific thought, and I can respect it while at the same time disagreeing with it for logical reasons.

But I'm growing increasingly frustrated with this new brand of militant, self-righteous atheist who is convinced that people of faith are all morons who simply need to be exposed to their wisdom; people who see themselves as superior to religious (and otherwise faithful) people simply because they're atheistic.

I, of course, have reasons for respecting faith, but they require an attention span to communicate (they have to do with analogies to common, non-religious types of faiths and well-known scientific religious geniuses who were religious), but I'd like a quick, easy-to-understand explanation of how one can be religious and still respect and value faith; something that these arrogant, bigoted types of atheists are capable of digesting.

Anyone?

I've Googled and lyric-searched, and found nothing useful. This is for my mom for Christmas, really. The record in question is entitled "Karnival in Koln", and some certain songs on it are as follows:

Du darfst mich Lieben fur drei tolle Tagen

O, wie bist du schon!

Wir kommen alle, alle, alle in dem Himmel

Es war einmal ein treuer Husar

Einmal am Rhein

Du kannst nicht treu sein

Wer sol das bezahlen

(Among others, I think).

I am not specifically asking to buy them from you, as that is against Yahoo rules. A link will be sufficient, if possible. You can e-mail me as well.

This is in the Senior Citizens section simply because the record in question is at least 30 years old, and I figure I'll get the most answers here. It is not a misplaced question.

Thanks to all, and I do understand if I get no replies.

Hi,

I'm just wondering, do I need to drink to be cool? If you say yes, I guess I'll just be uncool, but I was just wondering. I'm a total partier, just without the alcohol and drugs. :]

Thanks!

The main reason against same-sex marriage is the fact that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin.
But isn't there supposed to be separation of church and state? Everyone in the US is not Christian.
Also, wasn't the Bible was written by some guys long after Jesus died? Who's to say that some of their culture didn't mixed into their writing? Neither Jesus nor God wrote the Bible and a lot of Christianity focuses on how humans are not perfect like Jesus/God.
Can someone give me an explaination?

This is what I have so far:
There are many ways that the Bible relates to our lives today. Some examples are forgiveness and family relationships. The way that some of these ideas are displayed has changed, but the ideas themselves have remained the same. Forgiveness is usually shown today in the same way that it was shown in biblical times, although people may not be forgiven for the same things. Family relationships have changed from biblical times. The relationships within families are not as dramatic as they were in biblical times.

What should my last sentence be?

PLEASE HELP!
