we don't believe that they are magic and they are called garments- they are to remind us of our covenants that we made with God when we go through the temple. They are modest, and therefore encourage us and remind us to always be modest in our dress- basically if your clothes don't cover them, they aren't considered modest. It is an outward expression of an inner commitment to God. Where people get the "magic" thing from, is that we believe that when we keep our covenants, and show our commitment to God, that we will blessed for it. We do not believe that they will provide any magic or miracle, but that it is the blessings we recieve for being obedient. There has been accounts- and i remind you that these are instances and not doctrine or wide belief- that people were spared harm on parts of their bodies where there garments covered. a man was caught on fire- apparantley his clothes and skin were burned up except for where the garments were- saving his vital organs- again this is a personal account and i it's hearsay, but we don't believe that they are magic. oh and for the previous poster- they are just like regular underwear- you have multiple pairs and you wash them just like you do your other clothes.

If you had magic underwear, wouldn't you wear it?

Think about it.

Cuz we're all magicians and we need magic undies, magic jeans, magic t-shirts, magic sox, magic shoes, magic ball caps...

(remove tongue from cheek)

Maybe because we know the difference between "sacred" and "magic"...

Maybe because we feel that our bodies are sacred and should be covered...

Maybe because we think that when God says obedience brings blessings, we believe Him...

Mormon undergarments or Mormon underwear, are undergarments worn by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a symbol of sacred covenants made with God.

Not magical, but sacred. Endowed LDS members wear them as symbols to remind them of their covenants.

They're sacred not secret. They are for spiritual protection. Also, a reminder of modesty. If they show under the clothes you choose. They are too short.

I always referred to the as Jesus Jammies... They come in many styles. I was surprised. I tried to buy a few outfits for my girlfriends back in Cali for beachwear after I moved to Salt Lake City. I did not have my ID card so I was shutdown. It keeps them pure.
