hey guys, thanks to those who replied to my earlier concern. appreciate it. so i had done some online reading, and wondered about the consistency of several cards that reappeared again and again. what could be the significance of each card?

i got a lot of:
the emperor, the empress, the moon, the tower, the ace of pentacles, the wheel of fortune and the hierophant.

and sometimes in between, i got:
the knight of cups, two of swords, the world, the star and the magician.

it might be too much to translate, but i would love to know about the most that i got. what could they possibly mean in actual day to day life/ experiences??

thx a bunch!

And this is why arguing is futile?

The same way we assume logical axioms, we must assume God exists, in order to be certain of anything else?

"It is only through trusting our own minds that we have come to know Nature herself. If Nature, when fully known, seems to teach us (that is, if the sciences teach us) that our own minds are chance arrangements of atoms, then the sciences themselves would be chance arrangements of atoms and we should have no reason for believing them.”

How can someone believe in an omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent God (absolutely crucial for Christian morality) and maintain an idea of Free Will (just as crucial for Christian morality)? These two concepts seem, at least at first glance, to be incompatible a-priori. How can we escape "hard determinism" or "predestination"? Please answer BOTH sides of the question; any cop-outs will be removed.

Where did that rumor start, anyway? Don'tchya think that, just maybe, before you start acting like Israelite mythology is any different than Greek or Egyptian mythology, you might want to investigate that?

Will someone explain pentecostalism to me?

I dont understand some of the rules they place on women and the often old fashioned view on church attire.
i was raise pentecostal my entire life and over time became aware of its views on reality/women. No makeup or jewelry, no pants, no dancing, constant reminders that God made man to rule over women.
Instead of talking about women and men working together, the failing of the family is due to men not being head of houshold. A womand only salvation in life is to find God and a good husband, no female pastors allowed in church or as official leaders. I remember I missed out on prom, senior cruise, HS dances, going out with friends. No movies either.
All the things ppl take for granted I obsess over. I never got my ears pierced and I feel sexualy dysfunctional. There so many other things.
There is emphasis on the afterlife before this life. Whats the point of a religion that refuses to acknowledge half the world population & life?

I have been pronounced dead twice. Once by a firefighter, once by a paramedic. The only sensations that I've had either time was an overwhelming cold, a loud clap like a book shutting really hard in a library and darkness. I begin to pull away from myself, as I were Astral Projecting (which I regularly did during this period in my life) and then I wake up, to the utterly shocked face of my rescuer. Both times, I came to and had no injuries, no signs of what happened to me. The physical damage just...vanished. There was no water in my lungs from drowning, and no burns or scars from becoming a human pyre. Not even a blister.

There was no hand of God involved. There was no heaven. No light in the tunnel. No long lost relatives. No feeling of overwhelming power. No meeting of deities. Nothing.
What do you make of it?

In Religion & Spirituality, Y!A refuses to have subcategories. As a result, it is the one of the busiest (if not the busiest) category here. There are pages and pages of open questions I never see. Good questions are "hidden" by questions by "trolls" - who have no interest in obtaining a well-thought out answer.

I have been developing my list on Contacts, which has helped considerably...in my quest to find difficult answers by atheists, Catholics, and other Christians, etc. The more "stumped I am", the more it drives me to seek out answers, and I thereby grow in my own walk with God.

So, last night, I asked a question asking who would be good to add to My Contacts.

It very quickly got deleted and I lost points for this apparent "violation".

Perhaps it wasn't the "best" of ideas...what do you think?
Was it a violation?

And my "main" question:
Is Y!A in control...or is God?

WHO is sovereign?

What happened is sad, I don't agree with the circumstances but it was not my life.

The whole would she of survived is media speculation, not that of doctors.

Why does the media get to say what it wants about people, and is instantly lapped up?

Note: I am not a JW, but I think the media has handled this badly and done them a disservice in this case.

And having received also from Hermes an adamantine sickle he flew to the ocean and caught the Gorgons asleep. They were Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa. Now Medusa alone was mortal; for that reason Perseus was sent to fetch her head. But the Gorgons had heads twined about with the scales of dragons, and great tusks like swine's, and brazen hands, and golden wings, by which they flew; and they turned to stone such as beheld them. So Perseus stood over them as they slept, and while Athena guided his hand and he looked with averted gaze on a brazen shield, in which he beheld the image of the Gorgon, he beheaded her. When her head was cut off, there sprang from the Gorgon the winged horse Pegasus and Chrysaor, the father of Geryon; these she had by Poseidon.

Setting your religious views aside for one moment, which of these sounds more appealing and, ultimately, fairer?

The Kingdom of Heaven, in which only one is ruler by which all decisions are unquestionably made.

The Republic of Heaven, in which all important decisions are made by those effected: the public.

I believe Jesus died for my sins and everyone's sins..I believe all that BUT why do I live my life in fear constantly for my sins? Everything I do I think about Jesus and what he would of done and sometimes I succeed in changing the way I think and sometimes I don't. I fear that I will ultimately go to hell because I sin..What does this mean? Does this mean my faith isn't 100%? Or is fear ok? Having fear means you believe in something. Genuine people answer only please.
