I have been pronounced dead twice. Once by a firefighter, once by a paramedic. The only sensations that I've had either time was an overwhelming cold, a loud clap like a book shutting really hard in a library and darkness. I begin to pull away from myself, as I were Astral Projecting (which I regularly did during this period in my life) and then I wake up, to the utterly shocked face of my rescuer. Both times, I came to and had no injuries, no signs of what happened to me. The physical damage just...vanished. There was no water in my lungs from drowning, and no burns or scars from becoming a human pyre. Not even a blister.

There was no hand of God involved. There was no heaven. No light in the tunnel. No long lost relatives. No feeling of overwhelming power. No meeting of deities. Nothing.
What do you make of it?

For those who want to know, I'm Agnostic. Nothing was proven to me during this time, but if I did have some mind blowing revelation, I'd be happy to follow it.

Now, I may not have *expected* to see heaven, but I would have welcomed it with open arms.

Yes, I do have green/hazel eyes. I'm really curious as to how you came up with that.

Well, death is an extreme state of physical being. I wouldn't be surprised to find that everything (outside of the physical damage vanishing) that you experienced was a result of dwindling electrochemical reactions.

Neat story, though. Thanks. :)

In the "near drowning" incident, I would say that likely, you had a human reaction which causes the throat to close, preventing water from entering the lungs. I don't recall the technical term, but many such victims have little or no water in their lungs. Many people die of suffocation.

Any paramedic worth their salt knows that in drownings, the human body can do remarkable things.

I don't know the nature of your burning incident. I can't comment at all.

What I do know is that it seems you have been quite fortunate. I tend to think that if you've been through such things and survived, then perhaps there is a reason why you are here. I would give serious consideration to what you wish to do with your life.

The book shutting really hard could have been the Book of Heaven, the names of all those saved. Since you are Agnostic, perhaps it symbolized God giving you another chance at Redemption and Grace. God is patient and loving, but maybe there won't be another chance next time. It sounds like you've had plenty of time to discover the truth that you're not even looking for.

there's no coming back from real death. You may have been pronounced dead, but this is not the same as actually stinking for 4 days in the grave and then coming back, as in the case when lazareth was called back to life by Jesus. I'd say you ought to be thankful that God didn't let you go all the way but gave you not one, but two more chances to turn from lazy agnosticism. You need to diligently seek him to find him, and he promises you will if you do. You have two strikes. Three, and you are really, very, out.

You'd better get your heart right with God young man, because God has a plan for you. That darkness was not heaven but hell. God is in control and He doesn't continually save your life for no reason. You need to find out quickly what God's plan is and get on with your life. The Jews are back in the Holy Land and time is drawing near for the return of Christ.

I would imagine if there was something after death; you'd have to actually be dead (non-revivable) to be witness to it; not merely pronounced dead (which is basically by our definition merely that you show no detectable lifesigns).

I couldn't help laughing at how all the Christians/Catholics jump in saying "What did you expect if you don't believe in Jesus." or some such thing ... It is possible that there is an afterlife, without it being Heaven/Hell/Purgatory as they've defined it... Its not like either its their God or theres no God.

Perhaps you're still here, grounded, because
you still have some dark areas to enLIGHTen.

Twice dead speaks of Baby-lon,
"is fallen, is fallen"... twice fallen.

Fallen? Galatians 5:4; Hebrews 10:31

Pst: twice fallen requires twice risen:
to be reconciled (thru J-->C) to God.

Pst: God is not a man that he should lie(law).
Allegory: Grace isn't law law, nor law vs law.
Grace can't lie nor die. Law Law does both.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

people who choose others are those that are extra ignorant. people who think of they're extra useful than others because of the fact of a undeniable perception. it is not a rely of religion or faithless, non secular or atheist.

You'd basically 'see' what you'd expected to see during a near-death experience. In the next stage of being, we really manifest our thoughts more strongly than most do here.

I bet you have green/hazel eyes too ; )

Let's see you didn't believe in Christ but expected to see heaven when you died?
I would say that this is most probably your answer. You admit to a movement of the soul as you. You are fortunate to have been revived before your projection reached it's destination and I will pray for your safety as that many near death experiences is extremely dangerous.
