It means "nations", the singular is goy. It does NOT mean non-Jews- the term goy is used in reference to the Jews in the Tanach.

It is an insult. !!! I am married to a Jewish girl and be leave me It's an insult in their world. Jewish people need to realize this. You want to not be differently because of your faith but you have insulting inside, snide jokes that try to ridicule others. Just like when they call blacks "Schwartza" . Oh. And Yiddish is a dead language אני אוהב כל אנשים. אני לא מפלה שלום לכל

Your dad follows the same lie handed down to all the previous answers, for the most part. GOY is singular and GOYIM is plural, AND IT CAN REFER TO TRUE ISRAYLITES, which your dad is not. He is probably a CHAZAR, see www.jewishencyclopedia.com under article 'chazar'.

These passage PROVE goyim can refer to ISRAYLITES as well. THerefore the word is simply best translated nation(s), or people(s) most of the time.
Gen 25:23 And Yahweh said unto her, Two nations {GOYIM} [are] in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and [the one] people shall be stronger than [the other] people; and the elder shall serve the younger. <<<< One of these GOYIM is JACOB who is ISRAYL
Gen 48:19 And his father refused, and said, I know [it], my son, I know [it]: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations {GOYIM}.
JOSEPH the ISRAYLITE is going to produce a multitude of GOYIM through his sons EPHRAIM and MANASAH,,,,, this is manifest primarily today in the nations of Anglo-Saxon, Celts, and related people, predominently in the U.S. and Great Britain territories.

Goyim (plural) is a Yiddish word for someone who is not Jewish, or for a Jew who is ignorant of the Jewish religion.

It depends on the way a person says it, but mostly it's a Jewish way of talking about those of us not fortunate enough to be Jewish. It can almost be a slur, but it is not one the way your dad says it. I'd just smile at him and enjoy him, it sounds like he loves you a lot!

Means not Jewish. It's not really an insult, but more a joke.
