I just got back to LI NY from a quick trip to Pennsylvania and both ways on I-80 I kept noticing Big Stars on peoples houses and was just dying to know if anybody had the answer!!! I was thinking maybe something religious or i don't know.

I know two people both have fried their brains, there is nothing wrong with them phsycially other than the fact that they are too lazy to blow their own nose - and BOTH have just been awarded a huge settlement from Workers Comp and one of them is collecting his full private disability from his workplace AND the CPP disability pension at the same time.

He is pulling in over $2500 a month and his disability was caused by using street drugs and frying his brain, he is also an alcoholic - an out of control alcholic -

The other one in fact is still working, on the sly, roofing, no disabled person could be doing that, its hard work

This just frosts my socks to no end. It seems to me that lately its the druggies who are being given disability benefits while those of us who are decent upstanding, once hard working people are just being kicked out the back door and denied any assistance.

Does anyone else feel the same?

They promote crass, rampant materialism, defining yourself by your outward appearance, success, anything goes mentallity, promotion of values about yourself, society, sex, anything and everything, in a somewhat negative way.

Fashion, music, movies, all give the viewer ideas about everything on their own self image, to what they should drive, where to live, what to value, who to marry, etc. And it's all somewhat godless.

Don't want to make this too long, or pose an epic of an argument, but it's a simple question,

is the entertainment industry evil, from a religious perspective?

Doesn't it virtually go against every commandment, or what is written in the bibles or scriptures of many religions?

Does it not promote falsity? Advertisements, marketing, etc, are AIMED to delude us.

I don't see how the entertainment industry's influence on modern man is a GOOD thing, let alone a godly/religiously non-offensive thing.


Any opinions?

Well I'm in high school (grade 10) and there's so much homework to do (even on the weekend >:|) and sometimes I sit and think how strange it is that we do this work...like sometimes I feel like I won't remember this 10 years from now! lol And then sometimes I daydream about how cool it would be if I like...lived in San Francisco and went shopping every day or went out and just hung out with wildlife or something. Do you ever do this and is it normal?

And when I ask my parents about high school they never seem to have much to say...they don't have big stories of how great it is...so is it really the "best years of your life?"

Teachers always say it's for college...and there's another thing...college...I don't even know what I'll do...like what college or anything...I might just go to community college...

Even though Meryl Streep and Robert Redford are in it as well, I just can no longer sit through anything with Cruise in it. Ever since he started up with the whole scientology mess he's just not entertaining to me anymore.

In a nutshell:

I'm 18, never been too sexual (first base with a guy, mainly because I've never found anyone I'd like to be with, and because the girl I wanted moved away this fall). I tend to check girls out in public. If I spot a cute guy, then I'm interested, but the fantasies mostly include the girls.

I can't remember the last time a guy turned me on. Oh yeah, it was some time last year at a club.

I think I might be gay, but I have never kissed/done anything with a girl. It is too early to say...or is it?

I have discovered someone that I think is posing as a VT yet her answers don't reflect being a VT.
I know that VT stands for Vile Temptress yet most of the VT's I know are very nice and loving.

Look at this money based world we live in, and even nature.

How can any of these conditions prove that a "God" exists?

I don't see the possibility.

GOD is only a concept that a HUMAN BEING with a developed brain can conceive and comphrehend, that's of a certain age. No one below the age of lets say 10 can really rationalize with the idea. They may get the basic concepts, but that's that.

Is it fair to send these people to "hell?"

I think so many of us are failing to deal with reality, and don't know what to make of our own intellect, so we need something as a crutch or to define us.

If God does exist, then why must we exist among such godless conditons, among godless people and countries, which trade with each other and abide by virtually godless trade and value methods?

I mean, after putting alot of thought into it, "GOD" doesn't seem present hereHow do we find "GOD" in such a godless existence?

NOT saying evil at all, just ...lack of anything higher.

So I want to wait till marriage to have sex. I think it is because I grew up being taught that, but I don't know if completely know why I feel that way. I am not real religious, but I feel like I should wait, but I also feel like does it matter to wait. Especially since most people have sex before they are married anyway, whats the point of saving myself for someone when the odds are the guy hasn't saved his self for me? So I guess I am just wondering should I stick with waiting even though I don't know why I am exactly or should I just maybe be open to the idea of having sex before marriage?
