Mormon leader Orson Pratt clearly stated, "Thus each God forms a world for the accommodation of his own sons and daughters who are sent forth in their times and seasons and generations to be born into the same. The inhabitants of each world are required to reverence, adore, and worship their own personal father who dwell in the heavens who dwells in Heaven which they formerly inhabited." (Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 37)

Imagine a Mormon creating a world of their own where their constituents can really worship and adore them. What a blatant lie from the Mormon officials.

My family is die-hard Christian. They've been decans, Sunday school teachers, church programmers, evangelists, camp counselors, team leaders, play directors, puppeteers, etc. As a family we used read the bible (the whole thing, not just the good bits) once a year. I was involved in every youth activity you could imagine as a kid, read every C.S. Lewis book out there and, naturally, went onto bible college & seminary. Two years later I was kicked out for three violations of my "commitment of faith." I guess bible college isn't the ideal place to begin questioning the existence of god. But just the same...

The problem now is that I'm an adult atheist and very comfortable living this way. I've never been happier. But when my parent's visit it's difficult. I don't want them to feel like failures because their child isn't "saved." They were good parents and I love them. How can I maintain the good relationship I have with my family without having to play Christian?

Did you hear about the nurse who swallowed a razor blade? She gave herself a tonsilectomy, an appendectomy, a hysterectomy, and circumcised three of the doctors on her shift.

Didn't he teach that we will be "blessed" (set aside for Heaven) if we follow his teachings of how to care about each other and get along with each other?

When Jesus said "I am the way", do you really think he meant his sacrificial body or his "teachings" which he spent his whole life doing.

(Prescription: Read only Jesus' sermons, parables, and advice for 1 week. Then you might be shocked by all the things Paul "made up" about what he thought Jesus meant.)

psalm 139:16 ".....he planned the days of your life in advance, choosing the exact time for your birth and death"

If this is true then god has pre-planned every abortion...and the mother and doctor who agreed with this abortion are just puppets in gods major plan..

A young man was walking through a supermarket to pick up a few
things when he noticed an old lady following him around. Thinking
nothing of it, he ignored her and continued on. Finally he went to
the checkout line, but she got in front of him.

"Pardon me," she said, "I'm sorry if my staring at you has made
you feel uncomfortable. It's just that you look just like my son,
who just died recently."

"I'm very sorry," replied the young man, "is there anything I can
do for you?"

"Yes," she said, "As I'm leaving, can you say 'Good bye, Mother'?
It would make me feel so much better."

"Sure," answered the young man.

As the old woman was leaving, he called out, "Goodbye, Mother!"
As he stepped up to the checkout counter, he saw that his total
was £127.50.

"How can that be?" He asked, "I only purchased a few things!"

"Your mother said that you would pay for her," said the clerk.

Exodus 12:29: At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well.

Sounds pretty messed up to me.

In this modern age, deciding what is and is not income is not always straightforward. I've got a couple questions about what constitutes income for the 10% tithe:

1) Do unrealized capital gains count as income? If so, how are those gains evaluated?

2) Does interest income, for example from bonds, count as income?

3) What about interest income that is automatically re-invested, for example in a bond fund?

4) Does income that occurs within a retirement account such as an IRA count as titheable income?

5) What if you run a business, and you have a choice about re-investing revenue into the business or paying it to yourself as income, does the requirement to tithe play a part in this decision (that is, if you reinvest in the business, you get less income and tithe less)?

6) What happens if you miscalculate, and your tithe is not 10% in God's eyes? Do you lose your place in Heaven? Does God let you know you've underpaid?
