The Bible gives no clues on the souls of animals.

Historically Christianity has taught that all living creatures have souls, however, only humans are made in the image of God, and only humans have souls that will live eternally. So according to historic Christianity, the souls of animals just return to the earth.

God gave man "dominion" over all the animals. Christ fulfilled Mosaic law regarding dietary restrictions. Therefore, man is allowed to eat meat, etc.

Animals were not born with a conscience, which is God-given. Therefore, they cannot choose Salvation. On the other side of the same coin, it's easy to believe that because God loves us so much, He would want us to have our beloved pets with us in heaven.

God bless!
