Surely God is not going to be so cheap as to let generations of American citizens pay for this with their hard-earned shekels?

The revelation comes after Mr Bush launched an impassioned attack yesterday in Washington on Islamic militants, likening their ideology to that of Communism, and accusing them of seeking to "enslave whole nations" and set up a radical Islamic empire "that spans from Spain to Indonesia". In the programmeElusive Peace: Israel and the Arabs, which starts on Monday, the former Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Shaath says Mr Bush told him and Mahmoud Abbas, former prime minister and now Palestinian President: "I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.' And I did, and then God would tell me, 'George go and end the tyranny in Iraq,' and I did."

Women need to cover their heads only in Gurudwara or while praying or reading Gurugranth. Why these differences ? In fact other religions put more restrictions on women.

Well, I am a supervisor at a crisis residential shelter for teenagers. I've been working there for 2 years now. During that time I've worked extremely hard to get the promotions that got me where I am today.

Lately I've been making some appearance changes. (strange hair colors, nose piercing..) For my 20th birthday last Saturday I got my lip pierced. My boss flipped out on me. He said that my image is an embarressment to the company.. blah blah blah.

I feel as if my appearance shouldn't influence their opinion on me. (I already get looked down upon for being the youngest supervisor)

I just feel like my clients don't really mind. In fact they tell me that they like having someone around that they feel like they can relate to.

So what is your opinion on this? What would do you?

If redemption is offered to EVERYONE how is that fair to the rest of us (hahaha)? Do BAC's seem a little self righteous to you, and do you consider them even worse than people who have been christian all their life? They always seem to be the fundamentalist, evangelical type, why?

i know you say you are born that way, but what makes it so, what make up inside your body makes you attracted to the same sex instead of the opposite sex, i am in no way saying being gay is wrong, i ask becuase the original make up of our bodies for sex was to of course have babies, but gays cant do this, so what is it about the make up inside the body of a gay person that makes you just attracted to the same sex, please dont rant about other ways to have babies nowadays, because if you put 2 lesbians on an island or 2 gay men on an island they cant have children, thanks again

Here's the short - ok long - story.
I moved back to NC in 2006 and decided to attend church, which I hadn't done in many years. I was raised Baptist, but that never worked for me so I decided to attend a local Episcopal church. I loved it and I and my 2 year old son were baptised there. Everything was fine until I met someone and got busy with dating life. I got distracted and haven't been to church in a year or more. I ended up getting married, am pregant and unfortunately, my marriage hasn't worked out and we are separated. We surely didn't know each other long enough and I know I let love cloud my judgment. ANYWAY - I'm wanting to go back to church and feel a bit guilty for falling away again after making such an effort to (re)dedicate my life to a church lifestyle.
My question is - do I go back to my former church or do you think I should look for a new one and start over? I kind of felt like I didn't fit in at the first church - what do you think? What would you do?

I grew up in a strict Christian home and gave myself to Christ and was baptized at 13. At 15 I realized I was gay. Since I was very young, I have always been kinda "soft" for a boy. I love art, music, dance more than sports and stuff and when my peers were getting crushes on girls, I just didn't get it. When I finally got my first crush, it was on a boy. I was so ashamed. I kept this secret till I was 16. But my parents must have known I was "different" and confronted me. From 16 to 17 I have been in a conversion ministry. Today, I am still not attracted to girls and still attracted to boys. I am heart sick and I am too afraid to tell my parents all the praying, tears, fasting and therapy and their hard earned money didn't work.

But most of all, I feel betrayed by the whole experience. I feel hurt. I know my parents, pastor and the church genuinely feel they are helping. But its like they are blind to my suffering. They only care about what makes THEM feel comfortable. Worse yet...

For one religion to be the correct religion for all people on the earth. It is like all other religions are wrong and if you do not follow my way you will definately rot in hell. What has happened to tolerance.

"Segun un viejo dicho, en Toluca solo hay dos estaciones al an~o: al invierno y la estacion del tren."

Sorry about the lack of accent marks... :(

I translated it as:

"Following an old saying, in Toluca there are only two stations to the year: winter and the train station."

I know this is WRONG. I would like you to correct my ENGLISH translation.

For those of you who are convinced we don't:

The first session of my parish Bible study group this year -- an in-depth study of the Gospel of John -- was held last evening, and there was standing room only.

No more than 30 were anticipated; over 80 showed up. All brought their own Bibles, a variety of translations, including even the KJV.

Regular Bible studies are held in most U.S. parishes ... so doesn't this make the assumption that we don't read or study Scripture (or worse, aren't "allowed" to) completely false?

During a summit meeting in Naples, Italy this week, over 300 religious leaders including Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists have been meeting. The theme of the summit is, "A World Without Violence: Faiths and Cultures in Dialogue." They jointly issued this statement, ”Whoever uses God’s name to hate others, to commit violence, to wage war, they blaspheme God’s name.”

Is this one thing that the religious and the Atheists can agree on?

2007-10-25 05:03:19 · 21 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

For years, atheists and theists have debated whether or not there is a God. We've each tried to prove our side; to make things go our way.

But we're forgetting: It's ALREADY happened. Either there is a God, or there isn't--and that fact has already been decided; we simply don't know it yet.

Therefore, why argue? If there is a God, there always will be. If there's not a God, there never will be. Arguing is pointless.

I simply think we all need a wake-up call..

Can't we just accept our own beliefs, stop trying to convert others, and allow the chips to fall where they may?

According to Job 1:7 and 1 Peter 5:8 Satan is not in Hell yet but roams on the earth. But most Christians believe sinners go to Hell immediately at death, such as the rich man in Luke 16:19-31. Does this mean that sinners are worse than the Devil himself. Also, demons are not in Hell yet either, because in the NT they are said to posess people and swine. Your clarification on this is appreciated. Thank You!
