You have choices, and you can only choose six people:

An elderly Rabbi. --- wise
A pregnant teenage girl. --- obviously fertile
A 30 yr old prostitute. --- a good woman, in spite of her profession
An older scientist. --- agnostic and brilliant
A young black male. --- decent kid in college
A gay young man. --- a budding journalist
A married couple in their 30s. --- the guy is a constuction worker, the woman stays at home
A mentally disabled young girl, aged 16.
A physically disabled young man, aged 29.
A young doctor, fresh out of med school. --- he cheated on his exams, but he still knows some things
A movie starlet/ supermodel. --- world famous beauty
An old widow. --- knows how to cook, sew,
A pastor/priest --- spiritual and supportive
A cop. --- knows how to keep order
An artist. --- great paintor and sculptor
A hippie. -- a fun guy

Assuming our grup of seven are gonig to repopulate, we need more women than men for start-up efficiency:

1. A pregnant teenage girl - A two-fer! repopulation-wise.
2. A 30 yr old prostitute. hopefully still fertile.
3. A movie starlet/ supermodel.

we still need genetic diversity among men.
4 A young doctor, fresh out of med school - male, young, and a necessary profession.

lacking many more female choices, I'd have to give slots 5&6 to the married couple in their 30s. I'd rather have a fifth woman than a third male, but the construction guy would be a useful skill as well.

the others range from useless (if 7 people can't maintain their own order, a cop isn't going to make much of a difference) to limited usefulness.

gosh this would be hard to do , but i guess for the sake of continuing the human race i would take:

and the young doctor

the elderly rabbi, old widow would probably not be alive long
the 30 year old prostitute may not be fertile
the gay man will not aid in spreading the species.
the mentallly dis girl would probably be more problems than help she could offer
the phys dis man could would be not as wise a choice as the young black man
the hippie would just get stoned and be unproductive
the movie star could carry something over from the old society that we could do without.
pastor/priest may or may not be religiously egocentric
could use a cop but the doctor would be better because new cops could be trained later and 6 people will not need much supervision
the artist woul probably be choice seven just got culled out due to lack of space

sorry to break up a marriage but the ladies would have to take turn bearing children for the males, hopefully the pregnant girl will have a daughter and in 16 years or so there will be another female to aid in this area

2 & 3) Married Couple (counts as 2, I'm sure) -- Construction & domestic, rebuild the basics of society, plus fertile.
4) Young Doctor -- Presumably a fertile male, with at least basic medical knowledge

The sixth would be either the cop, artist, or hippie (in that order) who was female.

Three breeding pairs is not sufficient in a wild population, however the young doctor might have enough knowledge to properly manage a genetics spread breeding program.

first off it will be extremely dangerous to have kids while surviving nuclear waste not to mention in a bunker is not the best place to deal with screaming babies and diapers and with food having to be rationed single moms take precedence so that means kids make competition for food and everyone has a right to survive.
SO: for practical purposes we want non fertile women who can hold out until the enviornment is safe to reproduce, Assuming I was smart enough to also stock on birth control and condoms I would take the following:

the good hearted prostitute. ( duh)
the old widow ( never turn away a good cook and seamstress since clothing is also going to be rare. she can also teach us these skills)
the rabbi ( old and going to die no competition and can put in good words for all of us with god)
the married couple: he's practical and they only have sex with each other
the scientist. like gilligan's island needed the professor we're going to need this guy and no prob sharing the hooker with just one other guy. he can also use stem cells from the both women to assist in later reproduction.

I think this is a very practical mix, order is still kept and the elderly mean more space and resources. the scientist can disolve the corpses in acid or whatever.

I know I am breaking the scope of this question. However I would ask you wants to leave with me and pray in the outside. I would rather die with all than live with a few. Plus I could not live with forsaking someone, my point of asking people to come with me is if someone is gonna be forsaken it has to be their choice.

a young doctor, need someone with some knowledge about medical treatment.

artist designs building - construction worker builds them.
