If redemption is offered to EVERYONE how is that fair to the rest of us (hahaha)? Do BAC's seem a little self righteous to you, and do you consider them even worse than people who have been christian all their life? They always seem to be the fundamentalist, evangelical type, why?

Edit: Good points Luci & Catrionn

And, Catrionn, you make my point perfectly. If this redemption 'system' was accurate, then that means you could be sitting next to Jeffrey Dahmer is Heaven's Coffee Shop. I for one, am appalled at any 'God' that would forgive a repeat child molestor/murderer just because he asked for forgiveness. IMO, some people do NOT deserve it all, while others use it as a 'get out jail free card'. It would be a nice 'system' if it wasn't abused so heavily. Most people think born agains are a total JOKE because of this, including me!

Oh, yes. Then they go do something bad, and get "born again" again...and again...and again. So they get three, four, five....etc., chances.

A second chance?? We all have one life/chance so I dont see where you get an idea that some believe in second chances. If redemption is offered to everyone, how is it that you see it as unfair to you? You have an opportunity to receive it or not.

What do you mean by being a christian all their life? No one is a christian all their life. They may have gone to church all their life or had a religious family, but that does NOT make them a Christian. All TRUE Christians are born-again; all others are christian by name only (that probably will get me a few thumbs down).

EDIT: Luci- No most dont believe in "karma". Even though we have been forgiven does not mean that our choices/sins dont have consequences. We believe in repercussions and divine reprimands, not karma.

Catrionn- You along with others just dont get it. If you are "saved" with the idea that you are free to do whatever you want, then there is a good chance that you were never saved in the first place. God is who saves us and He looks on our heart. He knows if we are sincere or not. He doesnt just "do it" because we ask or pray, but because we are sincere.

And why do you think that some dont deserve salvation? Actually no one really deserves it, but he gives it to all free of charge. It doesnt matter what we have done or who we are, the gift is free. If Jeffery Dahmer is in heaven, then it is not the same Jeffery Dahmer that was on earth. The sin nature of the earthly Jeffery is not allowed into heaven, just his "born again" spirit.

People have criticized "born agains" and this train of thought. For the Bible's response, read Romans 5-7. Romans 6:1 say "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid!" In today's terms, "God forbid" means "HELL NO!"

Bijou, I am a Christian, and I believe all of us get a second or even a third chance or even a fourth chance or more.

Christians, by definition, are born again. The second birth comes when we choose to obey the Lord and be baptized. We can fall out of grace, but we can come back.

I know you are an agnostic, but if you were to change your beliefs you would also be forgiven, as all Christians--by definition--are.

I would hope God would find it in his heart to forgive ALL humanity and bring us all together in eternity. I don't know if that will happen. It's really up to Him, not me. Meantime, I just plod along, rather imperfectly, sinning here and there just to stay in practice, and hoping I'll get that second chance.

I was an agnostic for quite a few years, so I am not the very model of your fundamentalist evangelical type, although I am something of a fundamentalist in my beliefs.

Since it is a choice offered to everyone how can it be unfair?

I don't believe I am self righteous in fact I struggle and make mistakes daily.

All Christians are technically born again, it goes along with the belief.

I am sorry if some of my fellow Christians have left you feeling this way.

Redemption is offered to everyone, its a free gift, all we have to do is recognize that Jesus died for our sins. Born again Christian is just someone who has realized they were on the wrong path, and has changed their ways. I dont think they are self righteous, I just think they are following their creator. And no one has been a Christian all their life, its a personal choice, no one is born a christian, and no one is a christian until they accept the Lord into their life. We are all born sinners, its the choices we make that determine if we are Chritians.

We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Christ Died to save Sinners not Good men, no matter how good you think you are, you are as filthy rags No matter what you have done, if you come with a repentive heart, and confess that you are a sinner, and ask for forgiveness, and seek His Salvation, He will save you. Scriptures says whosoever, which means anybody, that believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Redemption IS offered to everyone if they follow the basic tenets of salvation laid out in the NT. It's "fair" to everyone because the Scripture says that EVERY ONE OF US will have to give an account of "...EVERY WORD that proceedeth out of the mouth of God..." In other words, EVERY ONE is eligible for salvation as long as they are in obedience to God's word.

you can not be "Christian" all your life... you are born into a Christian family, but that does not automatically make you a Christian...
