im 15 and i was raised at a catholic church all my life i guess i never even gave thought for awhile but only to belive what i was told so i guess when i was about 12 terroble things started happening in my family i had certain people die my house was destroyed and i got get with terrible deppression and anxitey witxh forced me to have to quit school and basicly ruined my life well sinse then iv been wondering where is this God of mine and if hes real y are such horrible things happening then i started thinking about my religion and how most of it didnt make sense and i felt mad that if God is real he must not love me so i stopped going to church ever sisne then iv been trying to make sinse of things like how we got here and all the so called un answered questions my parents arnt strict but they tell me i should belive in a God now im 15 and every day i seem to questions whats really real..all i no is that i no whats right and is wrong..should i need a religion?

Often I find that when someone says "sorry but that's my opinion", the ATTITUDE behind their spoken words suggests that they really meant to communicate this message: "Unfortunately for you, my personal point of view is beyond reproach and I will be highly irritated if you dare to object or disagree".

It seems that some people place opinions up on a pedestal; they treat opinions like untouchable, sacred things that no one ought to ever contradict or suggest to be ill-informed. It seems that they feel slighted or wronged in some way if people don't either agree with/affirm the point of view expressed or tiptoe away politely without protest.

Does anyone notice a similar attitude in others (or in themselves) once in a while?

I cant stand listening to the whole christian thing and that god can help you get through anything well i looked for god when my parents went through the nastiest divorce ever and i searched and searched and found no comfort so dont tell me i did something wrong all you bible bangin ***** said god will help anyone in need of help and he never helped me with **** i became a ****** drugy and a total **** up in and out of jail and always getting arrested dont get me wrong there is everything wrong with organized religion so **** god and **** government!

I was going to get a tattoo saying "You only live once" in latin, but i dont want to trust an online translator because i know there not always right. The translator came up with "Vos tantum ago quondam". If there is anyone that knows how to speak latin and english that could verify if this is correct, please let me know. Thanks.

My church told me that I couldn't believe that aliens existed because they're not in the bible, so I quit going.. I never really looked at it from a religious point of view until that moment, but then I started thinking that if God had so much love, then why not spread it? I don't know, I just want to hear about why someone would or would not believe in aliens.

If you think that is so, then wouldn't that mean a person or group of people had to have "created" a god/goddess and then went about convincing people that they were real. What motives would they have to do this? Considering how many religions have existed in the history of humans, that is a lot of people making up a lot of religions. As many religions as there have been in the world, consider the odds that YOUR religion is actually the real one. Even more disturbing a thought may be that if that many people throughout history had the gall to fabricate a religion, isn't it very possible that every religion that has ever existed came about this way, including your own?

Even though the person who asked it, didn't mention religion nor does the question have anything to do with religion. It is almost as if they sometimes use religion as a base for their arguments against something.

If you don't have a religion or don't believe in God, then why use them as a sorce of your argument? Why say "those people did that because they suffured from some mental condition etc". Why not say "those people did that because he was raised christian, etc.

Why celebrate Easter and Christmas?

I mean, those are pagan feasts. Christmas uses the symbolism of Yule and Winter Equinox (Cletic Paganism), Easter is a name adapted from Eostre, the Spring Equinox, the Pagan FEstival of Fertility.

Do you think we should celebrate these holidays for what they are, and not wrap them up in Symbolism that they are not? It makes me feel ill in the stomach when I see a children's "Christmas" book, whihc is trying to sell Chirstian themes in Pagan symbolism.

What is the difference between "Foreign" and "International"?

Background:
I work for an International Education College in a Chinese university, in charge of enrollment of foreign and overseas Chinese students. Recently the authorities told me to change all "Foreign Students" into "International Students" to save some words. Because they believe international students may include students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, which are parts of China(these areas are special). -_-b Furthermore, most Chinese universities do the same way.

OK in this dream I went to this place where all these people were, I dont know who they were but I only knew that these people could help me on something, like protection. Well, I walk towards this area where this man was and across from there was this big black snake. I was scared of it when I first saw it. The man told me that the snake was not going to hurt me and he talked to the snake in another language. The snake was friendly but it kept it's distance. As I talked to the man (taking my eyes away from the snake for a few seconds in the dream) I turned back to the snake and it was now a yellow-green color and still big. Still the snake was not harmful but more acting as a protecter and it was next to me, like cats do when they want to be petted. I have never had a dream like that before where the snake turned colors. Any idea on what that mean. And no need to go to the dream dictionary because most if not all is fake. Can anyone help me out??
