I believe the ultimate purpose that God has for us as christians is for us to have complete fellowship with Him.
To truly get to know of him and Learn of Him, love Him, as He loves us. What greater achievement could there be than to know that God loves us so much, and to give that love right back to Him in admiration of and for Him. Just as a parent seeks and craves the love of their child, so does our God seeks our love. He seeks this love from us, because He loves us just that much.

Jesus asked us to share the gospel, help others and worship God. A Christian should be setting a good example to others, of course non of us are perfect which is why he died for our sins. But this means we should try and live by his example and share the gospel with others. Our ultimate purpose is to remain faithful to him and our beliefs that he is the son of God, died and rose again and has prepared a place for us in heaven. This world is full of all kinds of tests and trials and we must remain steadfast in our beliefs so that we will have eternal life with him in heaven.

Your ultimate purpose is yours and yours alone. Live your life as you wish and not according to any creed, with love, integrity and honour you couldn't go wrong. Modern christianity has all to do with how other people perceive you and nothing to do with God! God is within, seek and you will find!

To get as many brothers and sisters to Heaven as possible.

Not that hearing the Lord speaking to you and you going up to Heaven is wrong or anything but the salvation of myself seems almost insignificant comparded to saving as people as possible, bring to them the truth and the way that Jesus walked.

Brothers and sisters, let's work hard together!
God Bless.

the "ULTIMATE" purpose of Christian life is to die. Death is the ultimate result of your sins, even if you are a stillborn child.

Except for the unbelievers here, most of the answers are good.

I think that our purpose is to glorify God and to find our joy in Him forever (starting now). To glorify God means to rightly proclaim (or portray) His character to the world. We have to experience God ourselves before we can glorify Him.

So our purpose is to seek God, find God, experience God and proclaim God. Experiencing God will change our very being.

I have not mentioned good works. I think good works flows naturally when we are changed by God. But we find God by trying to obey His command to love our neighbor for where love is, there God is also. In a way, we try (and fail) to love our neighbor but in the trying, we experience God and that experience changes us so that we can truly love.
