Here is a question someone asked recently...

mpho the decoder...
"If you could be any race what would it be black, white, asian etc... ?"

Now here is someones answer....

the_prototype...
"I'd be exactly what I am---black. "Say it loud!!!!!!"
"I'm black and I'm proud!---James Brown"

If a white person is boastful like that in his/her answer, they would be called a racist. Double standard?

because of how others perceive you or because you are offended?

Again, if you are Black and you do not support BET, is it due to how others are perceiving us, as a race, or because you are offended by their TV shows, music videos, etc. and feel they do not represent Black?

Reasons:
1. I am not in support of BET because it gives Blacks a bad image.

2. I am not in support of BET because it offends me nor does it represent me.

3. Other.

Please explain if you will. I'm asking because I want to see which is more important to you. Just curious...

Why are there physical descriptions of Hell? Fire? Isn't that physical matter still? Lava? Bones? More physical matter...
Is there really supposed to be fire and brimstone just like the stuff we make every day in a "spiritual hell"?
Demons? So you will be able to SEE them without eyes? And feel pain from fire without nerves?
Get my drift?

"Don't kill for immoral reasons or illegally, but justifiable killing is okay."

Then could "Don't lay with another man" really mean "Don't lay with another man for immoral reasons or illegally, but laying with another man justfiably is okay."?

Suppose a former US president snapped - all people can do so and the US presidency is likely one of the most stressful jobs in the world.

Anyway, the hypothetical former president snaps and starts making threatening remarks, waving a gun around, becomes inappropriately aggressive, whatever...

Question: How would the response by law enforcement, etc be different in this case than if the person was instead a "regular joe."

Like I said, no idea where to post this so R&S is just as good as anyplace... plus, it's more active here. :)

I mean why do some people say that the theists need God to explain what their ignorant mind could not understand otherwise? Both statements seem to be true. What's the point?

Does Deuteronomy 13:6-10 and hundreds of other laws and scriptures of the OT and NT contradict this? I believe in the same thing sort of (refrain from killing) Which to me means not supporting killing animals or going to War...I Think it is Genesis 21 says God gave all seed bearing plants this shall be your food...So why do most Christians eat meat and wear leather shoes?

I am just tired of Christians telling me I am going to hell for not subscribing to their religion...They seem like hypocrites to me and I should be the one teaching them the true path of peace...The path is simple...Turn the other cheek, and treat your and other's bodies as a temple.

I am an atheist and I follow good humanity. They for the most part are believers in superstition that do not practice what they preach, or only practice certain parts of what they preach. It is funny when a Christian says that they are trying to save me but I can clearly see that they are the ones that need saving the most.

Considering that the majority of the human population do not break laws and go on massacre sprees much like crusaders of the past ages.... do you think that if christianity or other religions were stripped from them, they'd find idle time to do more harm to society?

In other words, is it possible to conclude that law and christianity (and other faiths) actually keep crime or even mental illness down? I understand there are schizophrenic who claim religious hallucinations as real, but they are really few and far between.

Ok, so theres this boy, and he claims to have ADHD or something and he says he takes pills for it. Anyway he keeps getting on my nerves and he slaps my head and it really makes me mad. Im 18 and im a little to old to be getting bullied, but i dont know what to do. If i hit him then ill get thrown out of college and all because of him, id have no education. Or if i report him to my tutor its gonna look kinda whimpy. Now college is hard enough without someone making me even more angry. So what do i do? should i try to talk to him alone? but if i do that he will say im gay or something, and he has a big mouth. If i do that then he knows hes getting on my nerves, what do i do? thanks.

Now when we could use some REAL guidance, he's been quiet for a couple of MILLENIA. And don't tell me you just have to listen. If I see burning shrubbery and it starts to talk, I'll listen. That's the kind of contact I mean. Send us another kid to torture, or let somebody live in a whale for while, or any other of the wonderous tales from the bible. There seems to have been no end of proof back then, when people believed that illness was caused by goblins in your stomach and nothing could be acurately recorded and documented.

What do you think those who go to heaven will be doing there? Do they have a purpose for going to heaven?

Just curious to see if everyone has a similar view on the subject.

Us atheists are often labeled as nihilistic but it seems that the opposite appears to be true. I find a great deal of meaning in my life, and i don't need to believe in a god or afterlife to find this meaning. I know that what i do here and now will affect people, and the environment around me. I know that i can act in ways that make this affect for the better or for the worse. I have a family that cares for me, and a loving pet cat. I have friends and hobbies... To say there is no meaning to life without god or an afterlife is to, in effect, say that all of these wonderful things we have in our lives are worthless and that you don't really care how you interact with other people. That's a very frightening concept to me, and to think that a lot of people who believe in god would consider themselves criminals who don't care one iota how they treat others around them without the threat of hell and the reward of heaven looming over their heads is utterly sickening.

For the Christians out there who don't deny fossil records and solid peer-reviewed science (aka: not www.answersingenesis.org)

How do you reconcile Christianity with evolution?

One of the biggest issues I see is that the book of Genesis must be a complete lie, even if you look at it allegorically.

Humanity undergoes death and suffering because of our sins - that is the conclusion from Adam & Eve. According to evolution, death and suffering are a natural cycle of nature - without it we couldn't have developed into humans!
