Why are there physical descriptions of Hell? Fire? Isn't that physical matter still? Lava? Bones? More physical matter...
Is there really supposed to be fire and brimstone just like the stuff we make every day in a "spiritual hell"?
Demons? So you will be able to SEE them without eyes? And feel pain from fire without nerves?
Get my drift?

i like this argument, and have made it before...
How does hell "hurt" if you have no nerve endings to feel the pain, and no brain to process it?

There is no hell. Hell was fabricated by people, so they could use it to control other people. Just like heaven, and god, and all the rest of this useless crap.
Spending time arguing about what hell isl ike is similar to arguing what the Land of Oz is really like.

when did we make fire and brimstone? who said hell was not physical? eyes are just windows for us to see out of our bodies, we can see without them when we leave our bodies. souls are physical matter anyway, they are just energy on earth

It's just a fear-inspiring story to get people to do what the religion wants them to do. I.e. pay their tithes and then some.... volunteer their time to the church etc....
I think it's rather pathetic that the only thing keeping a person from being bad is this "threat" of eternal damnation from a being that claims to love us all. Yeah, ok! And then they liken eternal damnation from god to a father punishing his son for bad behavior. You know, because whenever i did something bad as a child my father suspended me in a lake of fire for all eternity.... because he loves me!

Hell is a real place full of real suffering, my friend. Many believe it exists at the core of the earth.
But more importantly, whether physical or not, hell is the total absence of God. God is the source of all comforts, all joy, all hope, all peace, all reason, all love, all justice. Hell is the lack of these things. You can't even think a positive thought in hell because no goodness can exist there. And what's worse - you will forever be aware that you chose it as your eternal home by pushing God away.
