and does anyone know what the bible warns about this?

also, what are your thoughts on the issue?

Ok, so I've been thinking lately how extremely hypocritical the bible is.. The bible goes on an on about being nice to people and helping and loving others.. But only so you can go to heaven ad have a great time...? Does no one else find this kinda selfish? Coz to be honest, how many people would still be a Christian if you weren't 'rewarded' with heaven and good fortune and good things happening to you? So basically I find the whole concept of Christianity selfish- You're only helping and loving so you go to heaven and have a good life- You're helping for your benefit!- To make you have a good life! Do you agree? Have I got it completely wrong?

Or are they engaged in a constant rivalry to see who can do the most good?

Disclaimer: I really want to know. No, really. I'm not kidding. This question may look like I'm poking fun, but I am genuinely interested in polling for opinions on the extent of their interaction.

Thanks to all who answer truthfully and honestly

I was thinking earlier today and then I read Linz' question which made me wonder.

Do you ever wish you had found God to be true? Did you in your search for your beliefs hope to find that you found truth in the stories you had been told?

Here's the link to Linz question too. . . .{{{{{Linz}}}}}

I have such problem with my possibly future college. I'm in the middle of the application process, but i've found that everytime i go there, the student aid people and all the faculities are soo rude, i dunno if its just to me, ( everytime i go there i think of how i talk to them and all that so i'm not being mean in any way) they just seem soo tired of being there and make me feel like an idiot everytime i ask for help.
I dunno, maybe i should just suck it up!
is there a major difference in the education between a university/college and a community college??

My Pastor preached early 2006 that we can test ourself by asking ourself a question. Have I ever been in praise & worship service where I was overly in love with God during praise & worship? Where I just loved God in praise? If not then I haven't been filled with Gods Holy Spirit.

So? As a Mormon, have you have an experience like this? Where you were caught in the spirit of praising God during worship & praise service?

Why not answer as to what Jesus meant when he said it instead of calling me a liar and claiming it is not there.

People often contend that God is a Transcendent spiritual being. That he is beyond space and time. Yet, they also say that he is omnipresent, everywhere at all times.

This is a contradiction to say the least. For if he is transcendent then that means that he is nowhere at any time (Beyond space and time). But if he is omnipresent then he is everywhere all the time.

So what is it? Is he omnipresent or a transcendent spiritual being. You can not have it both ways.

Look at this weird email i recieved 2day because i said masturbation is not a sin!

From: hammer

Subject: in reply to your answer on masturbation

Message: Masturbation is a problem a lot of christians young and old struggle with!! however, Jesus is presented to us as fully God and fully human, and was tempted in every way, yet He never gave in to His temption!!! We however are not God, though this is not an excuse we will give into temption every so often. Although masturbation is a problem, it can be overcome through Jesus Christ in prayer and different spiritual disciplines!! But to answer the question that was presented to you on this issue, Paul answers best in 1Corinthians, when he refers to fornication as a sin against the body, the greek term for fornication is 'pornia', this covers a fuller meaning to a lot of sexual activity!! Masturbation is a sin against the body as it was not created for that purpose,

Each step of the ladder is one of our existence. We live, we die and then we step up to the next level, until we achieve the top of the ladder and from there we will cheer and help others coming up the ladder as well.

Now, picture yourself in the middle of the ladder. There are people steps up and there are people steps down. All of us will eventually reach the top, it is only a matter of each one's speed and skills (some develop the skills faster than others). Therefore, everybody in the ladder is right on his/her own pace.

Ladder = spiritual progress
Steps = reincarnation (several lives)

Does it make sense to you as it makes to me?

Would this idea make you more humble, understanting and tolerant toward others?

I'd just like to know how you guys think.

I think mine was (and don't laugh) "All I ever needed to know I learned in Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum.

It's really amazing how we overlook life's simplicities and then can look back later and see how it forms the foundation for a fullfilling life.

I was raised Christian and I am having trouble understanding how with the Bible, Jesus is seen as God in Christian theology. I could understand how the conclusion that he is the son of God could be made from the Bible but how do Christians conclude he is God? No, disrespect and I ask answers to be respectful but I just can't find it in there. To be honest I believe Jesus was more of prophet endowed with a unique spiritual enlightenment.
