Buddhism is a part of Hinduism. Lord Buddha was a Hindu prince.
Now, Buddhism practised in other countries is a modified version. Each country developed its version according their needs. I would say they have degraded the teachings of Buddha. eg - zen buddhism, sleeping buddha etc....

The word "Buddha" is a sanskrit/hindi word.

Buddha is considered by Hindus as reincarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Buddha's basic teachings r completely similar to that of Hinduism. When Lord Buddha got enlightment, he tried to bring the Hindus more closer to God. He tried to explain that everyone is equal in the eyes of god. Hindus were disoriented during that period n Buddha helped them through his teachings.

Hindus only spread his teachings to all different countries. Buddhists r people who r Hindus but r following the refined teachings of Buddha.

Buddha never left India but today i am shocked to hear foolish stories about Buddha from tibet , china, japan etc.... They have developed their own versions of Buddhism. They chant some unknown hymns.

Buddha's teachings r in sanskrit.........i never hear sanskrit hymns from these people.

The relationship is that-- Buddhism is a part of Hinduism just like Jainism, Sikhism etc.
Buddha explained the teachings of Hinduism in a more refined manner. He explained the concept of "moksha".

From since the buddha started teaching, Hinduism tried to get rid of him. They planned and executed several assasination on the buddha, but none of them killed the buddha(although he was wounded from time to time)

The reason why the Hindus didn't like the buddha much, was bacuase his teaching was a threat to the caste system, their politics (capitalism) and their religion.

After the Buddha died, Hinduism, up til today has tried to make buddhism a hindu branch or even twist the buddhist teachings, which we can now see the result of in the tibentan branches of buddhism.
Most famous is the Sri Lankan story. Some states from India was able to invade and take over the buddhist Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan King was later able to regain Sri Lanka. However a lot of Hindus had already come to live on Sri Lanka along with Hinduism. The Hindu priests were very aggressive and demanded that some of the Hindu teachings was mixed into the buddhist teaching, otherwise they would start executing people. The king (being buddhist) and the buddhist monks went along with this, not wanting peple to die because of this.

Today Thailand is a target of the Hindus, trying to twist and bend the buddhist teaching into something unrecognisable. They go as far as putting on the robes of a buddhist monk and teach people something which is far from buddhist. Most western buddhism is heavily influenced by the Hindus.

Things like reincarnation, the four noble truths and the eightfold path are examples of what has been added (reincarnation) or tampered with (four noble truths & 8fold path)

Buddhism as a psychological practise is dying. In modern times, the Christians also make attempts to twist the buddhist teaching to some untrue and unrecognisable.

I ask question to the person who put such a silly question again and again.....why he want to divide people.. why his cult and god become happy by killing people and dividing them....i suggest you to shed those god who.. inspire you to divide and not love the other people......

Hindus consider Buddha as one of their avatar of god.....Buddha.. was born and died as Hindu.......Hindus believe that everyone and anyone can bow to any form of the god.... so where is the point of encounter.... ....

shed those god and cult......who divide and differentiate people on the basis of faith......Hindus has as many as thousand of noble deities........and they have accommodated all other religion on their land.....can other religion can do this....?

God bless you...
