It was a legitimate question and all the "christian" answers were filled with venom.

Why not answer as to what Jesus meant when he said it instead of calling me a liar and claiming it is not there.

Behead slay, they both mean kill. CJ&primo if you can not answer a question why respond? Just to show your hate filled lives to the rest of us?

Looked it up:

"But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence."

And the link shows all the different Bibles out there with similar saysings....

Interesting, never knew that.

I don't agree with them calling you a liar. I answered your other question (not the link posted.. the other one related to Luke 19:27)
And I agree they shouldn't have called you a liar.
But if you google "bring them to me and behead them" it doesn't come up with anything, so anyone googling it would assume you're lying.
I think I gave you a pretty decent response.. I hope? Explaining what the scripture said, and that it wasn't Jesus commanding that, and told you it was part of a story.
So I hope I didn't come across as a nasty christian. Cos I'd hate to be that. I know what you mean.
I prefer to call myself a "believer" cos honestly, sometimes I HATE being in the same catergory as christians because a lot of them are terrible people.
But some of them are good.
Just look at it this way... A girl goes out with five guys who all turn out to be jerks.. it doesn't mean number 6 will be a jerk though.
So, 100's of christians are horrible.
Doesn't mean the few scattered around the place are just as bad.
I know exactly what you mean with alot of your questions revolving around christianity. But I hope you also know what I mean when I say.. Christianity.. TRUE christianity.. Isn't forcing your beliefs on people, isn't controlling people, or being a total nut job over it all.. And any christian who reads this and gets offended and think I'm a bad christian.. Read your bible.. Did Jesus force the word on people? No, he told people who wanted to know. He prayed publicly for those who wanted pray, and healed those who wanted to be healed. He was gentle and sincere and wasn't controlling or forceful.

Dude, it's because you're being irrational.

Jesus was telling a parable, which is an illustrative story in which characters are not given a name. The story was like a fable, in that the event may or may not have actually happened, but the lesson behind it is still valid. Jesus did not command his followers to bring unbelievers to him and behead them any more than you woud be saying that anything on four legs is better than anything on two legs if you read Animal Farm out loud to me.

Admittedly, some of the responses were harsh. People really should remember that they are being read in a public forum, and that Jesus was only harsh with people that should have known better. But really, dude! You aren't representing the non-Christian contingent very well by flame-baiting.

If you read Luke 19:27 in it's proper context, and do not pick it out and isolate it on it's own, it's obvious that Jesus is telling a parable, and those words are the words of the King in the story that He is telling to the crowd.

That's why it's so important to read the entire thing, and not just pick out one verse alone to justify something (some "Christians" do this too, BTW)

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience on here with that - Don't stop asking honest questions about God and Christianity.... we will be here to help you.

It's a parable talking about a King who states if "they don't want me to rule over them, then bring the enemies before me and kill them in front of me". It would seem that Jesus is stating that those who do not accept him (or God) as King, then they should be killed...

I read some of the answers you got and was surprised how quickly they were saying that it meant someone else... yet all of Jesus' other parables were about God and accepting him. There is absolutely no reason to believe this parable was any different........ Ok, I'm not totally honest.... I am not THAT surprised they dodged it like that.... a lot of people do, especially when they try to make it seem like God and/or Jesus is nothing but Love.... I'm just surprised they don't see that as a direct contradiction to "eternal torment".

It isn't there. It says slay them. Not behead them. Read the entire chapter and you will see that Jesus was speaking about a nobleman who said to slay them. Jesus didn't say to slay anybody. He is telling a story. Secondly, when in the world do read a book by going in and taking one sentence out. You can claim anything if you do that.

I am a christian and I practice it by doing kind things such as joining the peace corps, helping the homeless, volunteering all the summer and on weekends, and I do random acts of kindness like picking out a few names from a phonebook and sending them flowers, putting quarters in expired parking meters, visiting nursing homes with cupcakes, taping quarters to a pay phone with a note welcoming anyone who needs it to use it,and bringing out a cup of hot chocolate to homeless in the cold or buying them meals. I've even paid for their stay at a hotel for a few nights. I do this daily along with a job. And Im 19 years old. Ive also been raped, beaten, and watched my 8 year old sister be raped and having a gun shoved in her mouth and her brains blown out in front of me. If it wasnt for my faith I would have become a different person. Everytime I'm in pain, i remember God's love enfolding me like a blanket and the story footprints which you probably know or have heard of.A man was walking on the beach with God passing various moments in his life alongside him. Throughout most of them there were two sets of footprints-his and God's-but during the most difficult moments of his life there was only one pair. Devastated he asked God why he had abandoned him. And God truned to him with a gentle smile and said "my son, during those moments where there was only set of footprints i was with you. You see, those footprints are mine because I carried you in my arms.Do not judge without knowing you ignorant fool. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

You know very well and have been told and shown by many that that is the last line of a parable that Jesus was relating to others. It was about a king, and Jesus was saying what that king said. Jesus never said for people to be violent, in fact he forbade violence in any situation.

Is it your intention to ask the same question over and over again without reading the answers?

You are clearly a troublemaker.

The problem here lies within yourself. You simply are ignorant to what Jesus' teachings mean and Christianity as a whole. Unless you are willing to really understand the religion, then you will never understand those who make up the religion. Stop perverting the Bible as you see fit. The real issue at hand is ignorance. Those who are against Christianity don't know the real Christianity.

this is the parable of the talents ( money) given by a wise man to servants. each one was supposed to invest the money and help make the master a profit.

there was one disobedient servant, who was lazy and buried the money and did nothing with it.....the servant then insulted his master...so the master rebuked him..and took away his money

jesus was quoting the master of the servants who was angry at the lazy insulting servant

he did not say to behead ,...but to slay....and he was quoting the master...Jesus was not giving an order to slay anyone to the people listening to the story....

what jesus meant was that we are all given gifts by god to use for his glory....and that whoever insults god and refuses to obey him will be punished.....

Your question about Luke 19:27 is abotu a verse taken out of context. It is a parable that isn't even referring to Jesus but a ruler in his parable. Please don't take words from the Bible out of context and try and mislead people on here.
