Out of sheer curiosity, I noticed many answered referring to the Christian god. What about ALL gods?

Sherr....sorry but as a Heathen I STRONGLY disagree with that.

Well, I'm an atheist, and yeah, I mostly complain about the Christians. Why? Probably because I live in the US. I'm not a big fan of Islam either, for exactly the same reasons I'm not a fan of Christianity - mainly, the dogmatism, exclusivity and bigotry. And yeah, Muslims have been getting a lot of press since 9/11 and with the Iraq War, but it's still true that on a daily basis, the Christians are the ones who are providing most of the irritation from where I'm sitting.

That's an interesting question.

To be honest, I would say that it was the God that I "knew" as a child. The "God" that I grew up believing in. (The Christian God.) The idea of this all-powerful being that actually loved us and would take us all to live with him in Heaven where we would be happy forever was obviously a very appealing idea. At the time, I didn't know any other gods, so there was no desire for them.

Now, of course, I know more about those other gods, and I know more about the Christian "God".

I think you tend to default to the monotheistic God because it's conceptually different than the polytheistic one.

Polytheistic gods are more like patron saints in Christianity; they're invoked for specific reasons. I don't know what polytheism would be like. But no, I don't wish there were really a farming god or anything like that.

Not that much of a problem with them, Greek, Roman, Hindu, Norse, Taino, Native American, and African tend to have their quarrels ammong themselfs involving less humans than Judaist, Islam and Christian gods.

The Islamic and Jewish gods aren't all that good either.

Some other religions did some kind of benevolent gods that might not be too much trouble but I don't miss them myself.

as mentioned in the posted question- I did actually explore this option. I was mildly interested in Wicca for a very long time- it seemed to have a very cool spiritual concept to it... but then spirituality kind of didn't work for me either. I guess I was too much of a computer nerd to care or something.

Her question implies the Abrahamic god. I usually use lower case for god to mean any god, or I'll say "god or gods". The same thing applies.

Like I previously answered- any god(s) that would create/allow such evil in the world SHOULD be imaginary.

Gods?

Come on....there are no gods. Not a single one.

Weak minds invented gods.
