I hate making small talk with the woman cutting my hair. I sit there and dont say anything. I figure if she dosent want to intiate the conversation then i wont speak. I have nothing to say anyway. Do you think that this is ignorant? I just like to get my hair cut and leave and not make small talk. Do you think shes thinking badly of me if i dont talk a lot?

The Roman Catholic Church through history approached her faith life with the clarification of language. That is, she translated the essentials of revealed faith into the vocabulary of living language.

To the revealed Word that there is "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" the Church labeled the belief "Trinity."
To the revealed Word that the "Son of God became man" the Church labeled the belief "Incarnation."
To the revealed Word that the "blood of Christ spilled on Calvary saved us" the Church labeled the belief "Redemption."
To the revealed Word that "my flesh is true food, my blood is true drink" the Church labeled the belief "Transubstantiation."
Transubstantiation reflects Roman Catholic faith in the literalness of the words of the Bible.

Jesus (omnipotent God) said: "This is my body; this is my blood." And again Jesus said: "I am the bread of life;" "My flesh is true food; my blood is true drink;" "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood ...;" etc.

Roman Catholics take Jesus at His word: the bread is his body; the wine is his blood.

From the Apostles at the Last Supper until today, the bread and wine of Eucharist looks and feels and tastes like bread and wine in the eating and drinking.

Similar to all of God's Word, faith is essential. Faith in what? In the words of Jesus even though the bread does not look, feel, taste like flesh; even though the wine does not look, feel, taste like blood.

Medieval philosophers and theologians sought simply to label this simple biblical faith: Jesus said that bread is his body and wine is his blood even though it did not appear to change into visible flesh and blood.

Transubstantiation means the substance part of the bread and wine elements changes; but the accidental parts--sight, taste, smell, touch--do not. Catholics believe that since Jesus said it and He is God, he can do it. They believe! "Transubstantiation" merely labels it.

In everyday life, it is not at all uncommon to believe in things man cannot perceive by the senses: wind, electricity, love, peace, etc. All the more when Jesus says it.

I want to know what the trend is for the under 25 crowd, not knowing how to tip?

If they don't know by high school or college, will they ever know? How come parents and schools aren't teaching simple facts like a tip is not included and should be left for good service.

i work as a waitress. Last night, I had two tables at the same time and gave equal service. One table was a couple over 30, they tipped 20%. The other table about 24/25 tipped 5% on an $80 check.

I mean, they were happy and I wrapped all their left overs to go and brought them refills.

I dont' understand why it's that hard for each of them to leave $2 on the table, so at least leave a 10%.

What do people think?

at work yesterday ,(i work in a restauraunt) we were suppose to give people compliments and this white guy said to this black guy when he came in "you look awfully dark today"

how can he say this? people laughed but the black dude didnt seem offended although it was offensive to me even though this guy didnt say that mean comment to me, but anyways, what would you have done if someone told you this and your black and the person that told you was white?

It was my birthday the other day. No one of my friends said "Happy birthday" To me. They knew it was my birthday because we have a news letter in the Senior apt. building where we live and it lists the tenants birthdays. I may have once or twice mentioned that my birthday comming up only because there is something I am looking forward to for next year, if I live that long a person not guaranteed tomorrow because next year is a milestone. It is no big deal............a simple "Happy Birthday." Would have made my day. I never forget their Birthdays. My feelings are really hurt but I'd never say a word to them.

Any pet peeve or peeves that reared its ugly head this week for you...mine was at a fast food drive through. The vehicle line was wrapped around the restaurant because several people placed large orders in the drive through. Go inside, for pete's sake, unnngghhh!

There are so many flaws that I am just now starting to see in Christianity in general (not just Catholicism)...and in my own humble opinion, Islam is the only religion where the followers actually live the way the bible tells us to. What do you think about Islam? People who are going to say that Islam is about terrorism need not apply. I know plenty of Muslims and they are some of the most peaceful, non-hypocritical people I've come across.

I think it is going too far for Christians and Muslims, for example, to ask we respect their religion when we do not believe it ourselves. But I agree that we must have respect for their right to believe what they will. This does not, however, imply a belief that they have the right to commit criminal acts in the name of their religion.

What's your take on all this?
