A while back, someone posted a question asking what everyone thought about the Book of Mormon. I said there was no proof ever found that it ever existed. (Which there hasn't been.) Not long after, I started getting messages from a Mormon complaining about my answer. When I wouldn't change my opinion, he/she(?) wouldn't let it go. I wouldn't mind, but being a Christian I don't like it when someone compares Joseph Smith to Jesus Christ. (I know, non-Christians, you don't see the difference.) I don't want to not be able to get messages, everyone else who has messaged me has been nice. And it's hard to tell who the message is from until I click on it. Any advice?

This can be a former President, Apostle, Rank & File Convert, one of your ancestors, even a non-Mormon who was a critic or even antagonist of the church. It can be a person who didn't follow Brigham Young after the martyrdom of JSJr. For the sake of a DIVERSITY of answers, I request that no one choose "Joseph Smith Jr" as their answer. If he is truly the first figure that comes to mind (as he was for me) think a little harder and find your runner-up. Try to give a brief explanation as to why. I'd like to hear from non-Mormons as well (even staunt critics) just please understand the question. "Which FIGURE in Mormon history would you like to MEET". It isn't "Which DOCTRINE of the LDS Church would you like to BASH".

Thanks.

Once when I was in Britain, I used the term "coffee mug" and the British person looked at me funny and asked what a coffee mug was. He was English and a native spker of English.

I know this would be a bit better suited for the other section, but we are the only ones up and I think it fits us as well. When I ask this, I mean, not in our existing laws, but in the people you know. Would you say the people you know tend to generally be pro choice, pro-gay marriage, prostem cell, etc. Or would you say most you know are prolife, anti-gay marriage, etc.

Isnt it that the faster you travel at the speed of light time slows down so if god is light his time is very slow compared to earths time right which would make 1 day as a 1000 years?

Is this one of the things god means literally and he is not just trying to say that earth time has no relevance to him?

And did people 2000 years ago know about light and time being relative to each other in that manner meaning god had to have said that himself?

I was just wondering

...would you share it with the world? Even if you knew it would destroy the lives and hopes of so many people around the world? What would you do with this knowledge? Would you take the high road and keep it to yourself and maybe educate those who came looking for the truth, or would you just stick it to the believers and tell them anyway? Just wondering....

i personally dont believe in gods plan.if we were all pre destined to have a plan by god then what what would be the point of existing?is it if we will choose to follow that plan?then why would he give eternal torture just to see if humans will follow his plan?or maybe like if there was a plan and i was intended to get healed of sickness why would there be a doctor around since if it was intended i wouldnt need any medicine..perhaps god was bored so that he created us and wanted to be entertained so he gave us free will and even he/she doesnt know what our actions will be and thus he just watches..i dunno maybe no or maybe so..

Its said that hell is just a scare tactic, so if there is a heaven and you havent been a Christian in your life, where do you go?
Is there nothing? Your dead, thats it?
Or is there somewhere where you go? Like limbo etc
Im just wondering because it says in the bible that he who believes in god is given eternal life. So if you dont believe in god, is that it? No eternal life?

According to the Genesis geneology, the Biblical Flood took place when Noah was 600 years old, which, assuming the earth to have been created in 4004 BC, would place the Flood at about 2400 BC (about the same time as the Pyramids were being built). Yet no historical records of that time period, from the Egyptians, Phoenecians, Greeks or anybody else, mentions any such event (they could, after all, hardly have missed it). Historical records from such ancient civilizations as the Chinese or the inhabitants of the Indus Valley show no period of time where these civilizations were suddenly wiped out by a global flood, to be slowly repopulated later. There is simply no evidence whatever, from archeology, geology or history, which indicate a worldwide flood that wiped out all but eight people.

Do you think it is mostly to do with population? People always say there is more murder and crime, but back in the old days there was still a lot of murder, lots of poisonings, assasinations, wives boiling and eating their husbands (thats what happens when we are opressed fellas!) and so on. I think that lack of punishment (i.e spanking) for children also contributes and that most places no longer have the death penalty. Why do you think the world is going downhill? And is it really or are there just more bad people simply because there are more people in general?

I mean how can you try to prove that god does or doesnt exist when you really cant be 100% positive that you are not dreaming right now and your entire life has been a big dream. You could be suffering from a severe case of sleep paralysis you feel and hear and see everything you can imagine up..I mean think about it your typing people around the world from your home and keyboard doesn't that just seem impossible...

Ok, sure thats a little extreme, but the point is clear. You cant prove god to be real or not...

Apostle Jeff says

Simple Science supports the Bible.

Thats hilarious jeff, you didnt even give me any verses or even actually answered my question yet you call yourself an Apostle, LOL!

~Josie~ says

Why do you care? Do you really think by posting a question like this that every christian will go, 'ya know, he's right'. Nope, I don't think so..........you can't take away love from someone's heart, no use trying........

This is such a stupid answer, i posted the question to get some intelligent answers, which i got from some people but you're not one of them people because once again you didnt answer my question

Daniel says

Why do scientists refuse to believe in simple Christianity?

WOW! are you seriously asking? scientists refuse to believe it because they refuse to believe that the earth has been around for a couple thousand years.. they're smarter than that

i_tell_the_truth says

u IDIOT no it's not if its wrong then i'm a monkeys uncle no we dont refuse to believe simple science we believe that we were created by god not flipping monkeys we dont believe in the big bang theory!!!! get a life and live for jesus!!!!!

Wow, you called me an idiot.. that was the real Christian thing to do i bet Jesus is very proud of you for that. When did I say anything about monkeys? When did I even mention the big bang theory? When has there been a theory that monkeys even created us? This is a serious question, not a joke so please shove stupid **** like this up your *** and you didnt even answer my question or even gave your thoughts on those verses.

London Girl says

Faith.
I have thought about being a atheist.
But, I am not even lying.
Something kept me hanging on to God.
And It felt like the right thing to do.
If i die and theres no God then okie dokie.
If i die and there is then good one on me.
If you die and theres no god then good one on you.
If you die and there is a god then well, hell is at the end of that path.

I am able by faith trust and following my heart.
if i choose to be Catholic.
My choice.

Don't tell me that
2.1 billion people are wrong.

Im not going to hate on your answer, your reply wasnt bad but it seems like to me that you are using your religion as a last resort, or as a "just in case there is a God" kinda thing and thats just not the kind of person I am, if im not sure about something then im not following and who knows maybe we'll live again with the same minds and we get to brag to christians that we were right? Lol. And yes, 2.1 billion people CAN be wrong, why cant they be?

I can give you fellas a bunch of reasons why somebody would be able to refuse to believe the bible

Hi, I come from a country where we have a good mix of the Eastern and the Western influences.

We're educated based on the British educational system but everything else seemed more american-based in terms of media exposure, culture, music, movies etc.

Anyways, I have worked for american, australian MNCS and I may be an asian but I'm not new to the common greeting of "hugs".

Just joined a UK firm not too long ago and I'm still not quite accustomed to the 'cheek kissing' culture though.

I still have the tendency to stretch out my arms and give a hug of sorts but understand that the european greetings is more kisses on the cheeks.

I know this sounds like a silly question... but where exactly does your hand go/do if when you do the cheek-kiss thingy?

Please enlighten me!

XOXOX!

I am only asking because I always see answers posted by Christians saying that the idea that we came from monkeys is absurd. However, that is not even what evolution states.
