I know this would be a bit better suited for the other section, but we are the only ones up and I think it fits us as well. When I ask this, I mean, not in our existing laws, but in the people you know. Would you say the people you know tend to generally be pro choice, pro-gay marriage, prostem cell, etc. Or would you say most you know are prolife, anti-gay marriage, etc.

Depends who are we being compared against?

Most of the people that I know tend to be somewhere in the middle. We tend to take the attitude that let things like gay marriage, abortion, stem cell research, etc. be legal; and if you don't like any of these things, don't take part in them.

At the same time, we're conservative in our view that the government needs to spend more time actually addressing issues, and less time in people's lives. The 3 examples you listed, are in all honesty, non-issues. There are bigger fish to fry, and rather than polarize the nation, maybe these people ought to just do the jobs they were elected for...and leave us to live in peace.

I think it changes time to time (like during how we have the war right now) but down the road it's pretty split even. Makes you wonder why we aren't called the Divided States of America instead....

Hmmm...people I know are usually more Liberal since we live in a state with a Democratic majority but again the margin of difference isn't that large....

Conservative and liberal are such incredibly general terms that are rather ineffective at describing people, and really are relative to how most people are.

A liberal is someone who is more "liberal" than average, and a "conservative" is someone who is more conservative than average... So by definition, the numbers of both are pretty much equal. These definitions, and their attached party alignments are pretty well reflected in voting.

Speaking from the outside looking in, I would say the outward appearance is that of a very conservative society.
But that would obviously change from state to state, but as a whole thats the society you betray.

Depends on where in the US you live. Where I live it's conservitive unless you set foot on college campus and even then it's about 50:50

I think we are more consevative and the reason I say that is that the Christians are praying for our nation. When they quit doing that it means Jesus has come back for His Church. The liberals are so anti-evereything they will deserve what is left.

I'm a free thinker in a sea of conservative thought.
