(No offense intended - I really would like to know about this.)

My friend (now Wiccan) was raised in a very strict So. Baptist family. Their church frowned upon dancing. Why ? Just curious.

The noise that anti-Semetic Fundamentalists here make is bound to cause you to wonder if Christianity will ever end its centuries of hate. I read yesterday a nonfiction account of a happening in WWII Warsaw which paints a different picture of Jews and Christians. It is "The Zookeeper's Wife," about the rescue in Warsaw, after the German invasion, of 300 men, women, and children by a Christian dad and mom and their son. Keep in mind that, in Warsaw under the Germans, to even give a glass of water to a thirsty Jew was punishable by death. The Christian family were zookeepers whose critters had been taken away and shipped to Berlin's zoo. They hid the 300 in the various wild animal houses until, as the Germans retreated ahead of the coming Red Army, the city was liberated by Polish resistance fighters. It's a little-known true story, a fascinating and beautifully written story. Read it: "The Zookeeper's Wife", published in the States by W.W. Norton.

(Oops, I posted in the wrong category before.)

It was today's birthday boy, Arthur Compton!

"For myself, faith begins with a realization that a supreme intelligence brought the universe into being and created man. It is not difficult for me to have this faith, for it is incontrovertible that where there is a plan there is intelligence--an orderly, unfolding universe testifies to the truth of the most majestic statement ever uttered: 'In the beginning God.'"

These are the words of American physicist Arthur Holly Compton, born Sept. 10, 1892, noted for confirming that electromagnetic radiation is at the same time both a wave and a particle. He was a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1927.

Do you agree with Mr. C?

Thanks for sharing your [rational] views!

i am goin through a really though time in my life right now, and at times i feel so crushed it feels like my heart is gona give up on me. im not a dramatic person, but been tru so much..n the only one person there for me emotionally feels so distant atm.. my sense of being exiled from everything grows n grows.... wt do you ppl turn to for that strength to keep you convinced that things r gona b ok... ive never been much of a religious person..wer i come from, religion is used to justify all sorts of bad people (im not going into that) but in short terms, i stick to treating others with kindness and respect.. for me being moral, sticking to my values and going to sleep at night with a clean conscience satisfies my spiritual duty. But the truth is most people do not behave like that around me at all.. n im speaking family n "friends".... comments? ideas?

Sure, some atheists may seem to be here soley for the purpose of saying that we are brainwashed, ignorant/uneducated, and whatnot, however I believe that most atheists come here because they feel religious bias in the laws of the country(US), and want to voice their views directly to the source..So, my question is: Do we (Christians) have a duty to our belief to push lawmakers to impose new laws regarding homosexuality, prayer in public schools, and abortion rights?
Or, Is our goal to build the body of Christ. Does the first support the second?

We know what sin is, and we know how we want to live our lives, but it is free will right? People are going to do what they want regardless of God's law, or whether it is the right thing to do or not, so are Christians wasting their time in politics?

I read in some books, One of them was scott cunningham, I can't remember the titlle or author. There are some rules, and one of the books said

"Never magick a child without parental permission."
""In order for witches under 18 to join a coven or be taught, they must have parents permission unless they are witches themselves"
"Don't use magick to make someone love you"
"You must practice the mundane ways before using magick"
"Follow the correspondences correctly when casting spells or the spell won't work or it may not come out as intended."
" If you cast a spell without casting a circle, bad things will happen"
"You are not allowed to force and convert people into your faith. They must become a witch out of choice, not by force"
" You are not allowed to perform services for the sole pupose of profit, as greed controls you. The money must cover neccesities needed for service"

Are there any more rules I should follow? I thought that "sin" means breaking the laws of religion

"And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God."

... and be naked and then have make love with Mother Eve, how do you expect Mother Eve to get pregnant? So Adam must have sinned by eating the apple, so that eventually he would sleep with Mother Eve according to God's Divine Design.

If so be the case, shouldn't God The All Wise and Loving then forgive Adam and Eve after they have sinned without having to resort to crucifying his only begotten son?

If Mother Eve got pregnant anyway without Adam having to eat the apple (thus sinning), would we be living in Paradise now? Would Christ still have to be Crucified?

This is not a judgement statement, but is meant to be thought provoking in our walk in Christ. Too often when things are going well and we have bountiful blessings we have no probelm thanking God but when things appear bad we find our selves complaining to him. We should stop and think about how good our God is and our greatest blessing Jesus Christ.

It's, "Leave you religion day" here in Ubekistan. I want to encourage all people's of the World to join us in changing their religion today. It's so fun here!
I was a Uniformitarian last year and switched to Swedenborgianism for the next year - so fun! You learn so much things about people and we have a game, "Find God in a Haystack" which the whole village prepares falafel for and at the end of night we sing our national anthem, "Oh, Ubekistan!"
Which religion will you change to today?

If Muslims really consider us friends, shouldn't they stop putting down our Holy Books? If Muslims do not like other people questioning the Koran, shouldn't they stop slandering the Torah and The Bible? Or do ALL people have the right to express their opinions and beliefs?

Thank you in advance for your answers! Have a great day!

Famous people that actually exist have ties to people in the real world, hence the many descendent of our presidents, founding fathers, kings and queens of other countries, scientists, philosophers, and even religious figures such as Muhummad. If they don't have offspring, at the very least people can trace a relative to them through their brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, mother or father and their offspring.

Confucius lived 500 years before Christ was supposed to have lived, and had 560,000 male descendants listed when his family tree was last updated in 1937. Over the next few years they'll include female descendents and the list is estimated to include over 3 million people. Can anyone name one person related to Jesus that isn't in the bible? He had several brothers and sisters, all of whom were Jewish, so they all would have reproduced had they existed. Why has no one kept up with Jesus' family tree?

Disclaimer: Not ALL atheists are brainwashed.

A common “argument” is that Christians are brainwashed into believing what they believe. However, many people who become Christians after the age of 20 are far from “brainwashed”, but come to this conclusion through reason, logic, and scientific evidence. C.S. Lewis, Josh McDowell, and Lee Strobel are all examples of atheists that became Christians through faith strongly supported by logic, reason, and science. I, too, am a living example. I use to be an atheist who sat down to prove the Bible wrong, foolish, contradictory, and/or antiquated or mythological.

And although I still see that some people who call themselves Christians act as if they are brainwashed (and they may or may not be true Christians; only God knows)…I have come to discern that many atheists are, in fact, brainwashed!
