I have some background in the occult and I HAVE heard it. I answered a question that asked if Led Zeppelin was Satanic, that is in voting now.The guy under me said I was an idiot because there is no backward masking on Stairway to Heaven. When I read it it made the blood rush to my face it made me so mad. I hate to be called aliar when I'm telling the truth. Anyone else heard it backwards?

It says CLEARLY on Stairway to heaven , It's toward the end of the song, sometime around, and as we wind on down the road... O, he is my sweet Satan. The one who lit up the night. He makes me sad (or sing .. I could never tell for sure) there's power in Satan. Then on Black Dog it says Satan wants me, fills my soul, I must get on my knees. There has to be others from that time period that have heard it. Another One Bites The Dust by Queen says plain as day backwards "start to smoke marajuana" I don't know why they put these things there I just know they are there. Maybe they have removed them from the nea CD's after it started to come out but I know what I heard and surely there is someone else who has heard it.

You can't do it on a turntabe, you have to do it on a reel to reel. My family grew up with a reel to reel. We have our Christmases recorded on reel to reel. These are not barely audible. They are plain and clear. Oh well I know there are others somewhere, because I used to hear other people talk about it. My husband heard it. Ionce tried to find the old tapes I had of it but couldn't. Maybe someday they will turn up. My Dad is dead now and we are fighting with my stepmom over belongings. Missing pictures I know we will mever see again. I feel we'll never see any of those reel to reels either. I guess you people will just have to go on thinking I'm crazy.

I don't care at all what Led Zeppelin has said to deny allegations. I don't care what info is out there. Honesty and truthfulness is not a requirement for Satanists. I KNOW what I heard and it is truthfully and honestly described above. I just thought surely there was someone out there who had also heard it and would back me up. There's a lot of backward masking in old music. I don't know about the new stuff. You people can say I'm Backwards, as one did, you can say Im ignorant as one did, and you can think I imagined it. I know better and that's that. My husband and one of ny old girlfriends that I've lost touch with and another old friend that is a Satanist now by the way , all know it's in there. I know there have to be others who know it too. They just evidently don't waste time on yahoo answers. Guess I'm on my own here.

I don't see the Virgin Mary on Cheese or any other stupid stuff like that. These words are noy fuzzy and hard to make out they are clear and it would be pretty amazing for more than one person to hear the same imaginary words. At the very least the fact that the Sceptic guy is on that link trying to explain away what I head just proves to me that other people heard it too. I know there have to be other people that have heard it and KNOW it's there.

When I listen to the link that "instinct" provided, I can still hear Robert Plant say O' he is my sweet satan. The one who lit up the night. He makes me sad there's power in Satan. It's only a little more garbled because the sound quality is not that great. Maybe it's my computer. But isn't it just a little too coincidental that it sounds like he says :the one who lit up the night, and there's an old guy with a lantern on the album cover. O well you all can believe whatever you want. When I got saved I burned my albums because of this and people told me I was crazy then because I had a whole whole lot of them.. probably worth a fortune today. But I didn't care if they thought I was crazy then, and I don't care now.

And by the way, just another coincidince I suppose that it's just a sprinkling for the May queen. What is a sprinkling for the May queen? It's a blood sacrifice.

Hi, Kim Y, I looked at your site. That's pretty much the truth although they have some of the messages not quite right. It would be the same however if most people tried to figure out what some music says forward without lyrics written. See, I always wondered about peole like Michael Jackson but didn't own any of his music. I understand why people are reacting this way. They don't want to believe this can be true. I was the same way. People were saying that the music I listened to was Satanic. It p1ssed me off. I thought they were stupid too.

Hi Bert,
Perhaps try the link that "Instinct" has offered and see if that helps to explain some of this backmasking. I believe that sometimes these things are urban legends that grow by themselves, but I don't doubt that satan (small caps intended) uses whatever media he can get a hold of for his purposes. I don't doubt that there are 'artists' who work in some backmasking just to make political or personal statements. I think that there may be some merit in the original opinions of social leaders when rock-n-roll first came out that it was not a good form of music (too sexual, negative influences on children, etc) . Didn't get such negative flack when responding to music types: Big Band, Country, Dixieland, Symphony, Jazz, Musicals, etc. type music. Seems like Rock-n-Roll has presented an excellent platform to install all sorts of agenda. I prefer music for God and instrumental. Can't get too crazy with those, and they don't harbor subliminal messages, either.

WHAT METHODS ARE THERE FOR KILLING A TERMINATOR? ANSWER: A T800 is composed of solid armor, so it is resistant to small arms fire. It may be possible to damage or even destroy a T800 with armor piercing bullets, but the movies never address this. Unlike the T1000, the T800 is unable to reform its chassis if it is damaged. Because of this, a T800 can easily be destroyed with any type of explosive weapon, such as a grenade, a grenade launcher, a pipe bomb, a rocket launcher, etc. A directed energy weapon like a plasma rifle is probably the most common way to kill a T800 in 2029. The characters in the movies did not have access to weapons like these for obvious reasons. Any significant damage to the structural integrity of the chassis will either disable or destroy the T800, as is shown in the first movie with the hydraulic press. The answer for the T1000 is more unclear. No type of firearm will permanently damage the T1000. The second movie does give us a few hints. When Arnold shoots the T1000 with the grenade launcher, it seems to damage the T1000 so significantly that it cannot reform its original shape. Explosive weapons are a vague possibility. The T1000 is sensitive to extreme heat, therefore a plasma rifle or any other type of energy based weapon will either damage or destroy it. Exposing it to extreme heat as is shown in Terminator 2 will kill it as well.

Humans are by nature pattern seeking. When we hear a tape played backwards, our imaginations and our tendency to find recognizable words in the sounds that we're hearing makes us hear it. That doesn't mean that Led Zeppelin intentionally put such words in their songs. Although they have a great interest in preserving that view, because it helps make their music seem more interesting and as a result more of it sells.

Michael Shermer talked about this in a lecture. See the link for the video. It is very informative.

Stairway to Heaven, according to everyone involved in recording it, doesn't have any backmasking.
Unless you know something that Led Zeppelin doesn't, I'd say you can put that to rest.
What you hear, probably via suggestion, is called "phonetic reversal".
There's lots of info out there on this, you should look it up. It's very interesting.

I remember trying this years ago, over 25 years ago. I do remember that at times it sounded like words were being said but I couldn't make out what they were. I still believe that would happen with ANY song played backward on a recorder player (remember them?!).

You're both right.

I have heard it too, and honestly, it takes some pretty creative interpretation to form words out of the noises I heard. I guess you could interpret it as satanic, but to me, it just sounded like gobbledegook. Maybe it is just a coincidence?

I have played them all backwards and it takes a great imagination to get any kind of sense out of it. Before you believe you know the "truth", buy a turntable and listen to the real thing for yourself.

Did you play the recording backwards yourself, or did you listen to someone else's alleged back-tracking?

I've done my own back-tracking and what I heard did not agree with the allegations.
