"Is there some remote intertainment in picking on people who have found God?"
You should have looked up the meaning of the word "atheist" before posting, kid.

Who's "vehement"? And what do you mean by "here" ? Haven't you noticed that here on Q&A there is a "General Questions" category, where questions of every different kind are posted, only some of which are designated R&S. So a lot of people who happen to respond to an R&S question aren't necessarily hanging out in that one department. I sure don't. I just respond to any question that peaks my interest.
Neither do I, or zillions of other people, "pick on" those who happen to embrace a particular religious belief system, whether it is Christianity or one of the many others. Many "believers" post questions specifically directed at "non-believers" or "a-theists", and the theme of those questions is often "why can't you SEE how wrong and misguided you are?" When we see a question like that up for answers, why wouldn't we respond? When someone posts such a question, presumably he is asking for a straight answer. If he happens to not like what he gets, then maybe that person should refrain from asking that kind of question.

Im not a vehement Atheist. I do believe in God.. I don't believe in what fundamentalist and chrismatic so called Christians have done not only to Christianity, but to our civil liberties and political system..
The movement to destroy separation of church and state, the hypocrisy of supporting the murderous Iraq war and the furor GWBush... The hypocrisy of saying your for the right to life but once your born...your on your own.. no government supported day care, child care, school lunch programs, welfare progams.
The arrogant attitude of claiming your screwed up religion that has burned witches, fondled up young boys, tortured the unbelievers in chambers of death, supported slavery and the murder and beatings of black people by good old boys bearing burning crosses, is is the true only true religion.
Ripping off old people by getting them to donate all their possessions to your sick and evil church.
Brainwashing children at an early age to believe there is a boogie man in the sky thats going to send you to hell if you believe in science..
Im not wasting my time here, I am exposing you for the sick, immoral, verse quoting hypocritical, brainwashed fools you are and enjoying every minute of it.

Do you have any idea how many times this question gets asked here every day? You might want to do a search before you post your question.
Many of us are simply interested in religion and spirituality. Me, I find it fascinating. Just because someone doesn't follow a religion doesn't mean they can't, or don't want to, talk about it. Me, I like engaging in Buddhist discussion, but since the conversation usually revolves around Christian-atheist, I go with the flow.

I can't speak for everybody. I'm here because I like passing time with YA as a writing warm-up, and though I try to answer questions on a variety of topics, I can't resist rising to some of the bait you Xians throw me. Am I here for entertainment? Partially, but also because of the hope that a particular argument or turn of phrase will reinforce somebody's budding doubt and encourage them to deny superstition and embrace a rational, responsible life.

I come here to try to free people from the slavery of religion. If I can cause even one believer to realise their doubts are justified, then it is time well spent.
Once freed, this person can then live live free of church control, free of being made to feel like they are not good enough, free from dogma, free to make their own choices. The list goes on, but you get my drift.
Note: I make a distinction between religion and spirituality. I enjoy discussing spiritual issues with people who are free from dogma, sententiousness and misplaced anger.

The last I heard, all categories in Y!A were open to all people. Atheists have just as much right to express their opinions regarding religion as anyone else. It's amazing how certain groups think they have the right to ban people who happen to disagree with them. Isn't that what happened in the Inquisition?

I tell you I am not an atheist but I see their purpose... I also would rather speak with them about spritual matters because they are more intelligent... You christians are the deceivers it says so in your bibles... we who are not obsessed with imposing our understaning of spiritually inspired matter know better than those of you who continue to spin your tails (and tales) .. You do not own spirituality, you do not own truth, truth does and will continue to survive your manipulation of it and athiest are simply part of the truth fighting the lie...

just because one is atheist doesn't mean they don't KNOW about god and religion. Last time I read this is a place to answer questions. If you have the answer, why must you not say it on the fact that you don't believe in it?
please, let it go. It's old and it's tired and thanks for the drink.
