The noise that anti-Semetic Fundamentalists here make is bound to cause you to wonder if Christianity will ever end its centuries of hate. I read yesterday a nonfiction account of a happening in WWII Warsaw which paints a different picture of Jews and Christians. It is "The Zookeeper's Wife," about the rescue in Warsaw, after the German invasion, of 300 men, women, and children by a Christian dad and mom and their son. Keep in mind that, in Warsaw under the Germans, to even give a glass of water to a thirsty Jew was punishable by death. The Christian family were zookeepers whose critters had been taken away and shipped to Berlin's zoo. They hid the 300 in the various wild animal houses until, as the Germans retreated ahead of the coming Red Army, the city was liberated by Polish resistance fighters. It's a little-known true story, a fascinating and beautifully written story. Read it: "The Zookeeper's Wife", published in the States by W.W. Norton.

I haven't, but I'm well aware that there were many non-Jews during that period who risked life and freedom to help my people.

I'm also aware of what the Polish resistance fighters went through during their darkest days in the Warsaw Uprising.

Fanatics - whether ethnic or religious - are wrong-headed. They think only of themselves, their own glory, the noise they can make and the hate they can try to inflame in others. They are full of anger and I'm sorry for them. Ignore their ranting. The vast number of people in this world are not like that. They're middle of the road, live and let live. They are the silent majority. They get on with their lives and try and do a good turn for other people like your zookeepers did. They don't spend their precious lives hating this and hating that. They come from everywhere. They are Jews, Christians, Muslims, Atheists, Black, White - all sorts. You don't notice them because they don't shout about it. They do good and just get on with it. (PS, Sounds like a good read)
