"And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God."

(Ezekiel 36:23-28)

hasse john-I asked if the verses from Ezekiel 36:23-28 imply that we can do SOMETHING to get ourselves saved. I also asked if you can give Bible verses to support your answer. As far as Israel is concerned, God does NOT have 2 salvation plans-one for national Israel and another for the gentile nations.

subwayxyz-I think you have misinterpreted the Scriptures... In James 3:11-13 we read, "Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom."

When a person is saved the Lord tells us that he/she becomes anew creation. In 2 Cor 5:17 we read, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." The Lord gives a believer a new heart (soul) in which he loves God and wants to be obedient to Him.

In Galatians 5:22-24 God tells us what the fruit of the Spirit is: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."

When a person gets saved, the fruit of the Spirit should show in his/her life....but these come after salvation. This is why the Lord tells us in 2 Corinthians 13:5, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

We need to examine ourselves in the mirror of God's word to see if we really are saved ie., born-again. The Bible is the plummet line (standard) by which we measure. If we see that we are continually falling back into "old sins", then we probably are not saved. Then we can cry out to God for mercy.

dear aalen-thank you for your answer but unfortunately the "churches" have misunderstood "1000 years" in the book of Revelation. Whennever God uses 10 or multiples of 10, "complete" or "completeness" is in view. In Rev 20:2-7 we read that satan is to be bound for a thousand years. This is not a lieral thousand years but during the church age (33 AD to 1988 AD) and then loosed at the end of that period. Satan could not "rule" in the Lord's church during this period because the Holy Spirit was present. However in 2 Thessalonians 2:7 we read, "...only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way." The "he" in this verse is referring to the Holy Spirit. In 1988 the Holy Spirit was no longer present to apply the word of God to people God had elected to salvation...therefore NO ONE could be saved there! 1988 marked the end (completeness) of the church age. In 1994 the Lord began saving people again but ONLY outside of the church.

God has written the Bible in order to bring us to a knowledge of our wretched condition; and also to show us that salvation is absolutely not within man’s ability to achieve. God Himself must do all the work in the matter of saving the sinner:

When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:25 & 26

For He saith unto Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Romans 9:15

No, because this was about Israel that still follows the Old Testament. To become a born-again Christian you will have to do some things:
The Law

Paul's words about the Law being unable to produce righteousness because of the weakness of the flesh (Rom. 8:3) should not be interpreted as if he thought little of the Law. On the contrary, he took seriously the high calling and expectations that God revealed through Moses. In fact, walking "according to the Spirit" (8:4) involves the fulfillment of these expectations. That's why Paul urged believers to:

• Turn from evil to good (Rom. 12:2, 9).
• Seek love (1 Cor. 13).
• Not misuse liberty (Gal. 5:13-16).
• Choose to do good toward all people (Gal. 6:10).
• Live with a new, godly lifestyle (Eph. 2:1-3; 4:1-3).
• Learn how to serve others in humility, with love (Phil. 2:1-7).
• Undo patterns of sin within ourselves (Col. 3:5-11).
• Develop godly contentment with what we have (1 Tim. 6:6-11).

This is life in the Spirit-a lifelong adventure of reclaiming what God intended for us from the beginning (Eph. 5:8-10).

Of path you'll be able to be born once more. It is solely that it calls for loss of life FIRST. The Kingdom of God is in heaven and flesh and blood can not input heaven as 1Corinthians 15:50 it seems that says. So JWs or now not, there stays that loss of life side. No getting round that.

Not at all. God is speaking to Israel and saying what will be in the Millennium.
He will save the nation as you will soon see. The forces are lined up and armed and ready to go.

Being saved is the work of YHVH. Having been saved, We must work. (If you love me, keep my commmandments). His Name YHVH will be set apart for special use. But it will be used by those who love Him and Keep His commandments. "Blessed is He that comes in the name of YHVH" I think the section of Ezekiel you quote refers to a situation that YHVH wanted to bring about, that He would bring the entire worlds people to hear the truth from His followers in the mid-east. Unfortunately, they disobeyed, and it did not happen. (Sorry, I don't have scriptures in front of me at the moment)
