I hear this word a lot and I would like to understand it's exact meaning

In Acts 10:34-43, we read the Apostles Peter’s sermon that brought instant salvation to people who “received the word of God” (Acts 11:1). How much “accurate knowledge” did Cornelius and others have to take in to become Christians? .

. Did they have to submit to a 6 month book study, then join an organization before they were “saved” (Acts 11:14)?

...that the punishment for a false prophet is to be crucified? If Christ was really crucified, does that make him false too, as what the Jews say he is? Do you think that Jesus the Son of God know about this verse in the Old Testament. Or was this verse nullified, yet who nullified it? Paul perhaps, cos he did nullify a lot of the things that were practised by the Jews.

Many Christian groups rightly say that water baptism is not required for salvation, but they then qualify it so strongly as to, I think, invalidate their first assertion. For example, I like what Hank Hanegraaff says, "The most critical mistake one can make with regard to baptism is to believe that it is necessary for salvation." But then he qualifies that with, ".....baptism is a necessary threshold each of us must cross into a life of fruitful service unto God." This makes no sense to me. I believe a person can live an authentic and fruitful Christian life without being physically baptized in water. I've been a Christian for 30 years, and I was a more faithful and fruitful Christian for many years prior to my baptism. I hoped being baptized would help me strengthen and grow my faith, but I experienced no spiritual gain from my baptism over 2 years ago. Why would God command us to do rituals that are of no benefit? Or maybe Christians interpret the bible wrong in this area?

And my boss did not take it bad. She said that she is excited for me. My job is not one where I have a specific Quota, or have to man this phone for incomming calls, it's an amdinistrative function. I have finished all projects and basically have nothing I can do for the next 2 weeks. My boss said that she has nothing that she wants me to take care of, but she may think of something. The question is, how can I ask her to let me go so that I can collect unemployment for the next 2 weeks? If I quit, I can not get it, the company has to let me go..... so I can not simply tell them I quit.... HELP, I have nothing to do!

Why not? How come? Surely the apostles know Christ best, don't they? Do they know that the one put on the cross was the God and Son of God defeated by the Romans?

James 1:22

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

James 1:26-27

"If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

As I said before, religion is nothing without LOVE! Would you simply love?

Have you ever had a bad day and said something that you shouldn't have? I am sorry for what I said the other day. Please forgive me. I will come back on every now and then but I will try not too be on too much, only if I feel lead by the Lord.
I am sorry if I had offended anyone one on here and I will ask the Lord for more wisdom as I proceed to answer anymore questions that you may have about Jesus. If anyone is offended by name on this, please don't be...I chose this name only because I love Jesus very much.

It's not that I feel it's a woman's role to look after the house/children, and I hate people who say that men are a better sex than women and that women should serve their men - that just shows that the man is trying to compensate for something ;o)

However I'm a fairly creative person and nothing makes me happier than looking after my home, folding neat stacks of laundry, gleaming taps, cooking wonderful meals, handmaking birthday cards....

.... am I a hypocrit?

Why does there seem to be a contradiction between verses 18 and 23?

Galatians 5:18 But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, jealousies, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Contentions, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

There are numerous examples, and there are at least two cases:

1) Complexity emerging spontaneously from physical law. An example is the snowflake, where the beauty, symmetry, and uniqueness of each snowflake come from an interaction between the way water molecules stack into crystals, and the way vibrations propagate in crystals.

2) Complexity emerging from randomness by natural selection. In this case, lots of random things happen, but some process chooses some over others, and the chosen ones tend to persiste. One example is the near-circularity of the planets remaining in the Solar System, and their spacing. Another is the evolution of species from other species.

In the scientific view of the universe, complexity arising naturally out of simpler predecessors is central to understanding why things are the way they are. The realization that this is possible is fairly recent---only within the past few hundred years. And perhaps this idea is not yet widely understood.

I'm not black, I'm Indian. But there were some geniuses in the 60's and the 70's who invented the actual rock like blues and rock n' roll like Hendrix, Bad Brains and B.B. King. Sadly there has not been any black artist or band who came with something even close to rock. And I hate hip hop. No offense but its REPETITIVE!.

Anyways If you're black and you like people like Smashing Pumpkins (Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream era), Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alanis Morisette, Radiohead, Beck and Oasis and hate hip hop (that part is optional) then please reply

At church yesterday (My wife is a Christian), one of the songs played by the church band said that God controls the path of every lightning bolt. Christians, do you think this is true? If so, what do you think it means when a lightning bolt strikes a person causing them death or serious injury? Wouldn’t that mean that God killed the person? If you do not agree with the lyrics of the song, do you think God can intervene to prevent a lightning bolt from hitting someone if he wants to?

Say for example, "straight men having sex with other men who are not gay or bi-sexual."

I posted a question about straight guy's having sex with guy's, and many of them stated that straight guy's who DO have sex with guy's are "still" straight.

It doesn't make any sense to me - then with people like that, why the arguement that gay's do not "choose" their sexual orientation?

Now, I'm gay, and don't recall choosing my orientation, but, to me, that sounds very "chosen" and not so much "biological".

It does fuel the arguements for anti-gay groups who view homosexuality as not "inborn" as people are saying.
