I mean, she's obviously down and out and in need of serious help...Is it necessary to continually make fun of her?

It's disheartening indeed. I have to say that for some reason I did enjoy her off-kilter performance last night but as I gave it more thought I felt bad for initially basking in the glory of her comeback failure.

The fact is, she is clearly suffering and has melted under the heat of the spotlight. Personally, I think the blame falls squarely on her parents. They didn't do enough to keep her protected from the wear-and-tear of the Hollywood machine. My guess is that her parents wished for the fame and fortune as much as or more so than Britney did and thus pushed her to her limits. So no wonder she grew into the adult she is today - confused, misguided, lonely and sad. And now that sad result of parenting has created two more children caught up in this cycle of misfortune.

To those of you who think that her fortune and fame make her unworthy of sympathy, well, I think that you need to open your eyes. I'm nowhere near rich nor am I famous and I wouldn't trade my life for Britney's or for that matter any Hollywood starlet's. The pressure on them is excruciating. Some of them who are growing up in the public eye clearly come from dysfunctional backgrounds -- think Lindsay Lohan. And I suspect many of them are without true friends. To live in a world where you can trust almost no one, where you feel as if your life is not truly your own and every action you take, every remark you make is forever scrutinized?

Um, I'll take a pass.

I've never really thought much about her although I do feel bad for her she thought she had found true love and all she got was a SNAKE who bit really HARD. If mr.Britney Spears (lop fenderline) ever loved her he would not have grabed the kids and ran he would have hung in there, but like they say money is the root to all evil. I bet his older kids are reaping the benefits of their younger brothers support money, then on the other hand she should have known, what kind of so called man leaves his girl with child 4 another could it be he was looking at Brit with $$$$$ IN HIS EYES

I feel sorry for her. She may actually be suffering from a kind of bi-polar disorder. It would explain her radical behavior and her periodic displays of hyper-sexuality. I don't think she is receiving the help she needs. Unlike other famous characters behaving badly, she does not seem to be an alcoholic or drug addict. She does not need rehab. I think she needs counseling.

Right now, it does not appear she has anyone she can rely on. She seems to be lost and out of control. I wish her well and hope she gets some help.

As far as being made fun of, well, the public is very fickle. They love to build people up way too much and then enjoy the sport of destroying them or watching them self-destruct.

Hmmm... let me think about this... she is incredibly wealthy, young and if she merely applied herself with some exercise and proper diet she could be extremely attractive again... and her only problems are the ones she has brought on herself...

I'm going to go with a no on this one, I don't feel bad for her... and if she would stop doing things that are so ridiculous, people would stop making fun of her...

i do not see how saying she has a tummy and was so out of sync when mouthing to her song is making fun of her, if it is the truth its the truth.

Like already said I only feel sorry for her kids and they are going to cringe when they get older and see what a mess there mother is being.

Yes, I do. But, she's hardly down and out. In fact, I think it's her addiction to the wealth-and-fame meatgrinder that's causing most of her problems.

Yeah I really do feel bad for her. I mean its not going to make her any better when she sees herself constantly in magazines, and not for good reasons. I really don't think shes as bad as everyone makes her sound.

Must be that time of month...I actually feel sorry for her for the very first time. I did not enjoy watch her on stage struggling to perform...

I'm with you. I pray for her, she's obviously really hurting and whatever happened last night (judging from the yahoo headlines things didn't go well), she's probably very upset now.
