when I was a kid, we allowed Grandpa to say grace, since we were at his house and his table, out of politeness. It was usually in the form of a " serman", about as long, too. When i was 16, after waiting all day for my already- intoxicated mom, grandma, and aunt to finish making the meal, we waited for my grandpa to say grace so we could eat and then make the twenty mile drive over icy roads, back home. I made a comment about it and we didn't go to Grandpa's house for Thanksgiving, or X-mas, again. My husband, a diabetic, doesn't like overly long grace, and so we keep it short and sweet. Now that my grandparents are not going to be around forever, and we are invited to go to their house for the " final" Thanksgiving, I am reluctant to go. We live in Va. they live in Washington State. I also have 3 kids and I am not up to, nor am I willing to be polite enough to listen to a poorly disguised serman dressed up as " grace". help!

Or by Assuming their race, skills, intelligence or qualifications.

Please add experiences if any and how you feel about it.

That is one of the qualities of truth, that you don't need to remember it. The lie has to be remembered continually; you may forget.

On R&S I've seen websites listed with web addresses such as www.evilbible.com and www.godisimaginary.com. Similarly, there's the Christopher Hitchens book "God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything."

Now, I personally am a bit annoyed by titles like that but it doesn't stop me from reading the contents and assessing the claims. And I know the point is to get people's attention.

But it seems like the more staunch conservative Christian could be put off by a title like that completely, and absolutely disregard the book or website, therefore missing the potentially valid content.

Maybe Christians aren't the intended audience, so it doesn't matter anyway. I don't know. What are you opinions on this?

Non-atheists are welcome to answer, too.

I walk as softly as I can, on the balls of my feet, toward the door. The sweat is beading up on my brow, my palm wet from squeezing the grip on my glock. I edge painfully slowly towards the peephole. God, please don't let them notice the light change in the peephole. I can hear my heart pounding in my chest as I try to control my breathing. My whole life flashes in front of me with every tick of the clock. Oh, no. I can hear a random country song playing on the radio in the kitchen, please God, don't let them hear it. But I can hear Tammy telling us to "stand by your man". Even though its on low volume, it sounds as if its booming through the dark dusty house. I see a cockroach scurry past my foot as I begin to do the unthinkable and look through the peephole. Every muscle in my body is taut, screaming "NO!", but I can't stop the insanity that has brought me to the door. I look out, and realize my worst nightmare. Yes it is the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Hello all, I pray that you are all doing well today.
Have you ever felt it? You wanted to do something and you knew that it was wrong, but you wanted to do it so bad, so you decided to so that you would be satisfied?
I have felt it. I have experienced it. You do that one thing and pretty soon, you are falling....
Satan has gotten you all tied up in the ropes of sin.
We are all in bondage, friends. To one thing or the other. You are not alone in your struggles. God's Word tells us that "None are good, no not one."
Shouldn't that make us feel better?
But, what do we do when we find ourselves in bondage?
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41
The good news is that our spirits are good. Our spirits know the difference between right and wrong. The bad news: our flesh sometimes starts a fight with our spirits. And the flesh is a fierce competitor. Sometimes, it wins.
Stay tuned...

Rev.5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

I'm often told, when I have demanded God show himself as proof he exists, I am only tempting God and God can't be tempted. So, the above question stands as is.

My wife and I are African American. Although I have gray eyes and we're tanned skin we've placed ourselves in this ethnic group. Most of my friends are hispanic, mixed and a few white; however I really have no black friends. My wife was the same. I get embarassed when I see a black guys in sagging pants, talking ignorant. My wife and I come from families of educators. With the exception of some black friends I had in the Army - I just haven't found any black guys that I can trust - they seem the first to hit on my wife - bring drama. I was called a "sell out" for being the first black person to be accepted in the Academics program in my school district. I am all for progress within the black community - but some of the men are just outright disrespectful esp. when my wife and I go out. I notice most white guys look but not like perverts - I like classical, soft/hard rock, everything - I get along with black men from other countries just not here - Am I right for this?
