I worship both Jesus and God the Father.

But praying in Jesus's name means to take on Jesus's personality and worldview when you pray.

In the New Testament times, to do something in somebody's name was to do it "a la" him. To imagine what he would've done/said and to try to emulate him.

That is what "praying in Jesus's name" means.

We worship God in the name of Jesus. Jesus instructed us to do this. Now God is Jesus and that is why some pray to Jesus and worship him too as meaning God in general.

They are one in the same. The Gospel of John shows that the Word was with God, and the Word was John, and in verse 14, you see the Word became flesh. We also know from Dueteronomy that the Lord our God is One. Not only that but in the book of Colossians, it says that in Christ the fullness of the diety dwells within Him. And we see that certain attributes that are God's alone, such as the ability to forgive sins, and the title of Savior are also given to Jesus. Yet in the book of Isaiah...chapter 45 I believe God says He will not give or share His glory with another. So if Jesus is not God how can all this be?
The angel in the book of the Revelation in which John fell face down to worship told John to stand up that he is merely a fellow servant of anyone who does the will of God, yet Jesus accepted worship in the boat from His disciples after calming the storm.
Lastly, yet not at all exhaustively, in the book of Phillipians, chapter 2, it says that Jesus, although He is equal with God submitted Himself and took on the form of a human. All of this points to the triune nature of the infinite God, something our finite human minds can not fully grasp although we can see it is revealed to us in Scripture.

So when a person prays in Jesus name...they shouldn't be saying that as some tag line, some secret little saying that makes their prayers come true like rubbing a magical lamp, but it means something so much deeper, that what you have asked of God is in accordance with everything Jesus taught us about the will of God. That is why He said, if you ask anything in my name....anything according to His perfect divine will, it will be granted to you.

When we say " in the name of Jesus" we are telling God we ask of this ( your prayer) in the name of Jesus. Jesus died for our sins and he was God's only son. So basically you're kind of asking for Jesus' help too. You are worshiping God but not forgetting about Jesus.

Praying in the name of Jesus merely reinforces to we who are asking that the ONLY prayers that are answered are those that are in line with the revealed will of God and ONLY BECAUSE we are IN CHRIST does God listen.

God the Father sent God the Son, however, they are one in the same God.

In the Jewish culture, from which Christian came, the phrase "in the name of" meant to do something by the authority of another person. To pray "in the name of Jesus" means that we pray acording to the authority that he gave us. He told his disciples that if they asked anything in his name, it would be done for them.

Note that in Christian theology, Jesus is God. So to worship Jesus is to worship God.

As we are fallen, the way back to God the Father, is only through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the mediator between man and God, so we must work through him.
The Lord Jesus is redeeming us through his blood, and he is the only way to the Father.
