Gods don't die. He couldn't have died because he is eternal life, right? Isn't that the general belief? Thought that Jesus was his son? That's why he was crucified, for stating he was the son of God. He was convicted of blasphemy by the Jewish elders who petitioned Rome for him to be crucified. Which Pontus Pilot did to keep peace in Jerusalem at the order of the Roman Emperor. How did Christians get he died for your sins out of that is beyond me other than it was a way to pretty it up a bit.
PS He did have to die, he committed a crime where the punishment was death per the law of the jewish temple.

Why was it "merciful"?
Consider that by becoming a martyr, he created a long-living symbol and rallying point for proto-Christians. Had he lived, the Romans might have committed genocide to wipe out the threat from their slave races.
As not only part of the Trinity (god the son) he was "made man" and just as subject to human fraity as the next man. Wasn't it likely that, backed into a corner, his ego might have wanted him to "go down in a blaze of glory" - i.e. "If I'm going to die, I'm going to look good doing it"?

Adam unleashed sin into the world, surely you will die in hebrew translates as dying until you are dead.
God has rescued those who kept his word, for his word is his name.
Noah resuced by beleiveing in God, god told him to build an ark.
Moses receives the law of God, the 10 commandments are carried in an ark.
The word became flesh and dwelt among us, jesus is the word of god, the 10 commandments,
When asked lord, how can i be saved, Jesus tells him to keep the commandments
Jesus becomes the ark and word of salvation for everyone, from the jewish line of david, to save the jews and the gentiles, this way, his sacrifice can save the whole world from their sin.
He died for them, he was the substitute sent down, so that no man or woman would be sent down for their sin.
But as jesus did not sin, death had no claim to him.
Therefore he was ressurected, and making him your lord and saviour, means at the appointed time, God will ressurect you too

Look up ancient myths and legends of India and China, a truckload of Divine beings sacrifice themselves for the greater good..Jesus wasn't the only one.
The Buddha gave another method, he believed rather than RELYING on an external being, rely on yourself to gain liberation from birth and death and go beyond death. In this way, NO ONE not even a son or daughter of a god/goddess needs to be sacrificed, no blood needs to be shed as an offering

Odin suffered much more than Jesus did. He hung upside down in total self sacrifice on the Ydrissil tree and for more than just three days.
In addition, there are people on the earth who suffer much worse pain, for longer and with no prior knowledge that they will be rewarded in any way for it.
So stop with the emotional blackmail, it is just as ineffective as threats of hellfire.

Dude, a merciful God:
-- Would not let little babies die of horrible diseases.
-- Would not have let women and children die in his Great Flood.
-- Would have prevented history's greatest atrocities.
-- Would never have had to let his son die in the first place. If he wanted to forgive us so bad, he could have just snapped his fingers and been done with it.

Can YOU imagine a God so powerful that He doesn't NEED to 'sacrifice' his only son so that His creatures can have everlasting life? I sure can. Too bad my imagination isn't reality, huh?

God the most highness has the power of forgiveness and already forgave in the Old testimony. God the most highness cannot be humiliated by the people he created, no way he could be killed by the people who created. God is above what you describe him to be on the cross. and the Bible has errors and the priest astray the true Christianity from its true path.

Yes, I can imagine it, but I have never seen it. However, I have seen people sacrifice their own lives so that others could live. I can honestly say that I would die on a cross if it would save my children. But you don’t have to worship me. Worship is for primitive people/societies.

I not only can imagine it, but I BELIEVE it to be TRUE. That is what makes me a member of the church, the Body of Christ and guarantees me a home in heaven.
