The reason people tend to label christians as clouded and delusional is because they don't understand how you can believe in a story passed on by the word of mouth. They will claim that there is not evidence that can prove it, ask then what evidence there is to disprove it.

"If we are out of our mind, then it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you." 2 Corinth 5:13

It makes absolutely no earthly sense why any man would sacrifice himself to save others except out of love. why love is given to the unlovable (grace). It is about faith in something greater than us, and the world around us can not understand, did you before He revealed Himself to you?

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

The struggle of faith will come and go and God grows you and teaches you. At times it won't make any sense and it won't always be easy. Struggle through it! Struggling is not a sign of weakness but instead of perseverance.

"Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons...but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:7-11

Don't be discouraged by a few bumps... even if its a whole lot of bumps. He is changing and growing you constantly, using it all. The world who do not know Him can't understand.

Because faith by definition - believing in something without or in spite of conflicting evidence - irrational. You could have a "very clear mind and understand a lot", but if you still believe that 2 + 2 =5, or cat is spelled "k-a-t" or pouring ice cream into computers made them work better, you would have an at least incorrect, if not delusional belief. Especially if you came up with all kinds of excuses (well, you used chocolate ice cream, the true ice cream to use is butter pecan!) There is no evidence whatsoever any god exists, let alone a specific one.

I know we are human and words can definitely hurt at times. But we need to remember that people thought Jesus expelled demons by the name of Beelzebub
and people thought he was crazy. Jesus was God's Son and we know the things they were saying about him were not true.
People need to remember what the Apostle Paul wrote at 1 Cor 13 what love is and what love is not. We should all read this everyday and remember if we do not have love we are nothing.

1 Cor 13:1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I have become a sounding [piece of] brass or a clashing cymbal. 2 And if I have the gift of prophesying and am acquainted with all the sacred secrets and all knowledge, and if I have all the faith so as to transplant mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my belongings to feed others, and if I hand over my body, that I may boast, but do not have love, I am not profited at all.

4 Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, 5 does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. 6 It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails.

Don't worry, dear friend. You are not alone who is considered to be clouded and delusional. You can read and understand what is written. What contradict to the truth of God must not bother you so much. People are doing wrong things even just in case. They often don't think if there is really need to do this or that. They often don't think if it is just or unjust what they are doing, the main thing for them that it is not being done to them. Stand firmly in your faith and take no heed of those who spread slander and libels. Evil people will be hating you so much more, how much you will be devoted to the Lord Jesus. Nevertheless, don't be disheartened. The reward from God for you will be greater than all that fussing of mice.

Who has an absolutely clear grasp on reality?

All of us see things through the filter of our experiences, hopes and expectations. Christians, atheists, everybody.

Personally I think a Christian with an analytic, open mind like you is in the best possible position for a clearer view of True Reality than anybody else.

But since believers see things only through their filters, they accuse atheists of being deluded and closed-minded and vice versa.

We're all deluded to at least some degree, esp. the people who read this and think "Thank God I'M not."

If someone believed in fairies and let this believe run their life...wouldn't you think they were delusional?

Personally I don't think people who have god believes are nut cases or unintelligent, though some certainly are. I think most people compartmentalize their religious beliefs. You can have very good critical thinking skills, but if your religion is not truly subject, then it'll always be believed.

I say live and let live. Unfortunately a lot of Christians and other religions don't feel the same way and try to legislate their beliefs on the rest of us.

Science has philosophy and theory. They are backed by careful thought , conjecture and evidence.

Religion is backed by careful thought , conjecture and evidence.

What is the difference between Science and Religion. Religion is a choice. Science isn't.

Now how is that for a logical argument.

You are not delusional. You are labeled that way by the people that have a pore self esteem and feel better about themselves and their beliefs or lack there of by putting others down.

This is not aimed at atheists or agnostics either. It is aimed at those that insult others to make themselves feel superior. They need to realize they are already equal to anyone else and are as good as anyone else. If there beliefs aren't strong , then they just need to do research and strengthen them.

Here's my opinion:

You can not always compare "thinking of man" with faith. Faith can be questioned, hopefully to increase faith, but some aspects of faith need to be believed/accepted for what they are without constant "physical" proof that it exists and surrounds you.

My belief that God is with you all the time, knows what is in my heart, what you think, do, feel and say before you say it. (That's part of my faith). I can not physically prove that to you, only testify that I feel it.

"Thinking", on the other hand, brings more in mind for me a "science". The ability to prove things exist because they are comprised of physical substance.

I think there is room in this world for both. I think there is room for alot. There's a proper time and place for everything.

May God Bless all who respond in this forum, and keep you in His Mercy. In the Name of Jesus Christ, My Lord, i pray.

It is the whole idea of 'I' am the perfect example of what to be. Anything slightly different or foreign is automatically challenged and questioned. If there is an animosity towards your belief system it will be mocked and ridiculed and you by association. It is human nature to turn on something not 'just like me'.

The word 'reason' implies using a logical process, combined with observations, to arrive at a conclusion. Faith bypasses that and simply declares the conclusion to be true. This is the antithesis of reason, which is why people say it's irrational.
