I've been wondering how many people who use the Religion and Spirituality section on Yahoo Answers have any religious or spiritual beliefs. I'd put this question in Polls and Surveys but this is the group I'd like to hear from.

I hear people complain about being politically correct all the time. I never had a problem with it. It seems like it would take more effort to go out of the way to say something non-PC than to just go ahead and use the PC term. Political correctness, to me, is just being polite when enountering strangers. Is that such a difficult task to accomplish?

We have a man who has joined our church and quickly rose to the position of associate pastor. Since then, he has taken control of almost every department in some way or another, including making decisions for the senior pastor without his consent.

The Bible makes it clear that when a Christian brother is engaged in sin that is unbecoming of the church body, certain protocol should be followed. Here is what the Bible says, and why each has failed.

1. "Approach the person directly, and speak with them with love and concern."

His response was to deny everything, and he became angry and belligerent.

2. "If this does not work, bring two or more brothers to speak with him as witnesses."

He reported the other witness to the deacon board, accused him of inappropriate conduct, and had him discredited.

3. "If this does not work, bring him before the church elders."

When his behavior was brought before the pastor, he denied everything, and the Pastor believed him over the witnesses.

I asked another question about Teresa, but the answers were basically from people saying I out to slander Teresa. On the contrary, I have a lot more respect for her, now that I know she had severe doubts. I respect that even more because her atheism probably came about as she observed the suffering of the poor, and could not feel God meanwhile. It's strange, another prominent theist, and former atheist, Dr. Francis Collins, reports the opposite effect after working in the ER, and became a Christian as a result.
So, do you Christians think that someone who had serious doubts, and probably would have been an atheist if not for her obligation to the Church, will still go to heaven? Does "Pascal's Wager" work... if you just pretend, will that be enough to please God?

Basically they are trying to get a case heard that will present the question of whether of not jesus recieved a fair trial for blasphemy.

The problem I see with this can be summed up in a simple "pseudo-syllogism":
A. Christians believe jesus was a martyr, and free from sin.
B. The court MAY find jesus was RIGHTFULLY convicted of blasphemy.
C. If he was rightfully convicted he broke the law, sinned and is no longer the martyr hero.

Why would they risk it?

In response to a recent question, I received several "quotes" from various Popes. I took the time to do a little research on them. Tell me what you think of what I found:

Quote 1: "The Pope is Christ in office, ...... we bow down before the holy father as we would before Christ himself" (1870 proclamation)

Notice here that there is no real name given. The only reference is "1870 proculamation" by whom? The closest thing I can find to a real reference to this quote is in anti-Catholic literature, saying that it was said during Vatican I. There is no footnote given. In other words, it has all the earmarks of a manufactured quote.

The second quote is this:

"We hold upon this earth the place of God almighty" Pope Leo XIII.

This one's real, from the 1894 document "Praeclara Gratulationis Publicae." The subject is Christian unity.

Understand, however, that when the Pope says "We" (plural) he is speaking of the entire Church, through the office of her servant (the Pope).

Of Course Prophetic events happened in the Bible- Do you really think human beings would of embraced the Bible (4000yrs) if it just was a fable made up for certain people at a certain time?

Bible tells us the problem that the skeptics have is not one of the mind. It's a defect of the heart, the scourge of original sin. John 3:19-20

Daniel 9:26, the prophet said that a future ruler over the land of Israel would destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. Daniel said this would happen after an anointed one (messiah) is "cut off," which means "rejected" or "killed." A few centuries later, the Romans had taken control of the land of Israel, Jesus announced himself as the Messiah, and the Romans crucified him. Forty years later, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple

I myself am Agnostic. I've noticed however, that every religious question immediately has "OMG THERE IS NO GOD! I'M NOT RESPECTING YOUR BELIEFS!1!!! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!" as the first couple of answers. Are atheists faster? It seems so because it takes about half a second to get your beliefs denounced around here....
