The fact is, "good news" doesn't make it to foreign news. It's not just an Islam vs. Christianity thing.

There might be a feel-good story about a Boy Scout Troup saving a kitten on the front page of your local paper, but that's not going to make CNN headlines in Iran.

Sensationalism sells, and news programs have to make their sponsors happy.

My husband used to live in the middle east. Six years. You know what he thought about America, and why he didn't want to come here? He thought we had millions of homeless people (we do have an awful lot), and he thought everyone here owned a gun. He knows now that that was misleading, not EVERYONE has a gun, but he's still afraid for his safety here.

I have noticed recently that more of the Western media seem to be careful about qualifying the evildoers as "Radical Islamic Factions" or "Islamic Extremists" which is a step in the right direction, but there is still too much emphasis on the very few misguided rather than the millions of followers who are devout Muslims walking a path very similar to those of other faiths, trying to live a full, moral life. There is certainly much positive to report about both Christian and Muslim societies, but it doesn't make for splashy headlines in the West, and doesn't meet the political agenda of the totalitarian regimes controlling the headlines in the Middle East. We all just need to try to promote truth and resist hate whenever we can realizing that the media have their own agenda.

Islam press does report the positives about Christianity and the west. They are all well aware that people from the west have invaded their terrorist harboring nations and bombed the crap out of them. That is one of the most positive things I can think of concerning Christianity.

They can't, their attitude to unbelievers (infidels) in their Quran is against this: sura 2:191 Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them; sura 2:193 Fight the infidels until they accept Islam; sura 3:28 Muslims must not take the infidels as friends; sura 3:85 Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable; sura 9:123 Make war on the infidels living in your neighbourhood; sura 8:65 The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them; sura 9:29 Kill the Jews and the Christians if they do not convert to Islam or refuse to pay Jizya tax; sura 9:30 The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them; sura 9:73 Be harsh with the unbelievers;
sura 25:52 Fight the unbelievers vigorously without any exception; sura 47:4 Do not hanker for peace with the infidels; behead them when you catch them;

I think the so called "moderates" need to take responsibility for thier role in NOT trying to improve the religion.

catholics don't have much to write home about either as there is still much pedophilia rampant in the catholic church. However before they elected a non accused war criminal pope, the prior pope did at least make an effort to weed out the pedophiles and took a public stance against them.

so called "moderate" muslims don't even do that They don't speak out, and they don't push for a clean up of the religion. They don't denounce extremists and extreme views, they ignore it.

Until they take a stand against it, regardless of what the crazy extremists do, then they are responsible and should be grouped with them.

Also all islam needs to just chill the **** out. They expect the world to hop to thier tune not for them to blend in with it. Christianity is guilty of this too, but not to such an extreme degree.

they might get pissed when a play depicting jesus as gay pops out, but putting pictures of muhammad in cartoons should not result in protests and threats of violence.

They need to realize that certain customs and religious norms apply only to them and that non muslims don't have to follow thier religious beliefs.

whats next? the world shuts down on saturday and sunday because of jewish and christian customs?

do we now not eat meat on fridays because we insult catholics?

do we break a meeting with 20 people in it so one muslim guy can pray at prayer time?

do we all fast during romadan and give up something during lent?

do we all walk around with crap on our foreheads for a ss wednesday?

its ridiculous people who chose to follow a certian religious system have to relaize that not everyone else does.

I think that the moderate western Muslims should be treated with respect. The crazy ones, who try to do evil, should be hunted down, by us, and them. Unfortunately, the media in Muslim countries are used as tools to prop up the corrupt regimes there. What sense would it make for them to praise us in any way?

Well, there aren't that many Christian positives to report...do you mean things like Timothy McVay blowing up a building in Oklahoma, David Karesh in Waco, and the abortion clinic bombings? Think about it...when is the last time that we had Christians showing tolerance and acceptance?
