Basically they are trying to get a case heard that will present the question of whether of not jesus recieved a fair trial for blasphemy.

The problem I see with this can be summed up in a simple "pseudo-syllogism":
A. Christians believe jesus was a martyr, and free from sin.
B. The court MAY find jesus was RIGHTFULLY convicted of blasphemy.
C. If he was rightfully convicted he broke the law, sinned and is no longer the martyr hero.

Why would they risk it?

BTW- I have no religious affiliation, just an agnostic law student wondering why they would risk eliminating the basis of their faith which is a "sinless martyr" who died for their sins...Seems like some one didnt think about the implications of their actions.

The article doesn't say the lawyers are christians, that is true. Google the terms "friends of jesus" "kenya" and "lawsuit" and you will find many articles with direct quotes from the lawyers claiming to be christians. I did a lot of reading on the subject b4 posting the question, so I may have inferred here that they were christians without giving you the resource to see that for yourself, but they say that they are in fact christians.

because they have absolutely no knowledge of roman law.

they are probably ambulance chasers that don't know anything but handing out business cards to parepalegics in the hospital.

roman law did not provide for a trial for non citizens, jesus was not high enough ranking status to recieve a trial.

anyone who would be elligible for crucifixion as a punishment would not be entitled to a trial.

whats up, lady! My address it is so effortless that it would no longer be worth affirming. while we solid a magic circle, we don't choose evidence that this is there. We purely believe this is. the concept that a synthetic court can instruct that the Circle is there and that this is actual will no longer ensue. Why? because of the fact the Circle is a non secular concept and the courts and legal gadget are actual/mundane. as quickly as I ask somebody for evidence that there is not any God, i'm frequently feeling annoyed. we are hit with an onslaught of "instruct it, instruct it, instruct, it." The destructive agression is everywhere in this internet site. in case you opt to apply the assessment of the synthetic courts for this argument, then I worry that each and every person non secular ideals will go through, which comprise your individual. i such as you like a sister yet i do no longer see how a assessment of our human judicial gadget can artwork consequently. It did no longer artwork too properly for Jesus the two. advantages, Kat

It all depends on your point of view. If you are Jewish you probably would consider Jesus guilty as charged. A Christian would see Jesus as wrongfully convicted. "many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view"--Obi Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker Even though Star Wars is fictional there's wisdom in that phrase.

Those lawyers would have a difficult time demonstrating in court even the existence of their client. All positive evidence is at best second-hand hearsay written down decades or even centuries later by sources of dubious impartiality, in records that have not had a clear chain of custody.

From reading the article you linked to, these do not appear to be Christians and they don't state that they are. A true Christian realizes that the crucifixtion happened according to God's plan, and I don't think they'd be wasting their time on this.

The problem is this : people forget that satan is the god of this world, he can appear as a bright light and seem good...... NOT all things are of God...... satan can make things look real nice, wrapped up in a pretty little package, and make it look all Christian like....... come on people !!!!!!!! do you honestly think a *true* and God *faith filled* lawyer or person will take a case like that to court ?????????????????discernment is the *basic* fore runner of FAITH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go in peace........ God bless

Because Christian arrogance - as evidenced by this - can be boundless.

I think their bigest problem may well be proving that Jesus even existed. How can you hold a trial over a fictional character? And there is no historical evidence for him having lived.

Either they're not thinking it through, or they already know that the trial was illegal.
