Ill try to make a long story short. I was raised Catholic, I completed all of my sacraments from first communion to conformation long before I was old enough to even understand the concept of following a religion. Now Im 22 and am faced with a problem. A few years ago I asked my parents, who were raised similar to myself from a religious aspect, what it meant to be 'catholic'. What about there beliefs made them specifically catholic. They didnt have an answer, and when I asked myself that question, neither did I. Now I dont consider myself Catholic, or a follower of any other religion. Not because I dont believe in God, because I do, but simply because I dont know enough about any religion to dedicate what seems like the amount of faith a religion requires. My problem though is not only finding a religion thats right for me, if one exitst, but that my wife wants to have our marriage recognized by the catholic church. Can we do this if I dont exactly believe in catholicism?

Your proud heart has deceived you... though your nest is set among the stars, from there I will bring you down, says the Lord. Obadiah 3-4

Neither nations nor individuals can ignore the suffering of others or contribute to it without encountering the consequences.
However, suffering and violence are not God's will for the world; God desires only good and peace for all creation.

I hear it all the time, being gay is a "sin" and gays shouldn't be wed. Why?

I also hear many religious folk say things like "No one is to judge but god"... and then they go off and judge gays... Uhh, why?

Also, if they really will be judged by god, why not let them get married and be happy? If god is loving and accepting, I'm sure he won't care, and if he does, they'll be punished by your god, right? So, why not let god deal with it and let gays be together, married?

just curious. Thanks.

i understand they are against it, but gay marriage would be something other people would do, so where is the problem?
i mean it wouldnt be something that affected christians in any way, their marriage would still be valid and loving and christian so in what way would gay marriage influence their lives?
is their opposition just based on hate?
just because you christians think i am wrong and a sinner for being gay do you think it is ok that i am denied a right?
in what way would your faith be affected if the union between me and my boyfriend was called marriage???
why some of you care so much about words?? wouldnt it be possible you want to be christians and remain politically correct when you say you dont want it to be called marriage???

I have always thought that actions spoke much louder than mere words. Why are so many people obssessed with wordy and flowery 'prayers', as if God was compelled to respond, same as some demon who is captured by a spell and a chant?

Does He become enchanted by diamonds and gold crosses and arcane symbols, and have to do tricks?
Does He really care who wins a football game, as if He has a few pence bet on it? 'For God's Glory?' (barf)

I am going to be pregnant on halloween this year. My hubby and I are trying to come up with a funny costume. We were at first thinking a preist and nun....but then ventured toward a preist and school girl. What do you think about those? Do you have any other ideas?

I live in Arkansas and according to the state constitution, atheists cannot be in a jury. Since I am an atheist, I never have to worry about being called for jury duty ever again. That makes me happy.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Depending on religion to save you is a one way ticket to hell, we know that. Claiming religion when you don't walk the walk is hypocrticial. My question is when did doing religious things and being truely religious become a bad thing? I hear preachers and christians bashing the word 'religion'. Reading this part of the Bible tells me that religion is God honoring and very important in the life of a born-again-christian. Tell me what you think
