This one's been around awhile, but it's a fun poking critique of folks who claim Biblical authority for judging homosexuality....
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. ... End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Law and how to follow them.
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord -- Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness -- Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. The passage clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there "degrees" of abomination?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? -- Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.
Your adoring fan,
James M. Kauffman, Ed.D. Professor Emeritus Dept. of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education University of Virginia

There is nothing "wrong" with being gay. It is as natural as anything, and is seen throughout the animal kingdom in hundreds of species.
Rigid ideologies, such as those often provided by organized religion, have taken dubious passages from ancient texts that are a conglomeration of many old religions... in the Bible, the Torah, and the Qu'ran you can find shades of Babylon, Semitic war gods, astrological references, parallels to Krishna and Buddha, and hints of the old mythos of the Egyptians strung together haphazardly and incongruently. Apologists really have their work cut out for them. In any case, as unreliable as the texts are, people have taken them to heart and interpreted them many ways... a hatred of the gay community has sprung from some of these interpretations.
The hatred is unfounded, based on very human interpretations of a very human book (or several of them) held as sacred and defended at the cost of many innocent people who are placed on the wrong side of a fearful us/them equation.
There's not enough love in the world. If a gay couple wants to marry, it seems like the most obvious thing in the world to let them. "Let" isn't even a good word. It should just be a given. But such is the world we live in.

There is no reason why gays shouldn't be allowed to marry by the laws of the country, but a church wedding is obviously a different matter. Religion has never been about fair or equality.

Personally, even though I'm 100% straight, I have nothing at all against gays. I think they should be able to get married if they want to. Why should I care? It's not like legalizing gay marriage would force me to marry a man. And I do happen to be quite fond of lesbian porn.

the bible refers to the act as being "unnatural". i think what it really means is that you cannot reproduce this way. god put a man and a woman on earth to populate it. this cannot be acheived by 2 men or 2 women.so i think this is the primary reason why it is looked down upon in the bible. did you notice animals arent viewed as being gay?(and yes,ive heard the stories about people saying their dog is gay) yet, people are looked at as gay. people are just as much part of nature as animals are, right? hence the word "un"(natural). plus you have to remember, most of the people who wanted gay marriages to be recognized were probably people who were co-habitating and realized one day that if they got married they still would not recieve the same financial benifits straight married people have. then the politicians made it legal for them to be married so the government could cash in on it. i think rather someone is gay or not, they are still more conserned with money than if someone they dont know or care about agrees with their lifestyle... iTS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!!!

What can I say? Thousands of years ago, when the human population was in the low millions, homosexuality was a danger to the human genome. I suspect that's no longer a problem. Nevertheless, God hasn't changed His mind, so we aren't authorized to change either. As to 'judging' them, I for one, don't. I just relay the information I was told to relay. Sorry if you've taken it wrong.
I have no problem with CIVIL UNIONS for gays, with all of the rights that marrieds have, but don't call it marriage. That's a SACRAMENT instituted by God. Remember seperation of church and state? Hey, it goes BOTH WAYS, doesn't it??? Of course, originally, S of C & S was meant to protect religion from the state, but nobody seems to remember that nowadays.

People who read Abrahamic Religion books will sure interfere the homosexual relation ship because in those holy books it's cearly mention as SIN. and ...........God did punish the country with a disastrous situation. (Story abt LOT/Luth).
Holy Book is a teaching with sample .
Showing the rewards and punishment by samples.
So they christians/ muslims know or at least believe that God will punish ; not only the gays that will be punished but they who agrees with it will be punished too. And punishment by God is real and is really hard. So are the reward, reward from God can be so amazing.
It's not much different in daily life, if you disobey your parents/school regulation you get punished or disobeying your country regulation you will be punished.
So disobeying world rules you will be punished.
Very logic.
That's why they interfere. They dont want to be punished, they want to be loved by God.
Living with God's love is really fullfilling.

I doubt if you have run into a true christian, because they do not brother with sinners, they associate with there own kind.
They are an abomination to God the Father; He burned and destroyed to city's because of that life style (Sodom and Gomorrah). God create Adam, a man,and Eve, a woman for His help mate, two men or two women's, being together. God did not make any mistakes. When sin enter the world, it did damages, is many different forms. Sin is the clause of things going wrong.

Those who promote the anti-gay agenda tell us that sex outside of marriage--fornication--is sinful. Yet, based on their belief that homophobia is loving, they insist that gay people not be allowed to marry. Why then are they promoting fornication among gay people if fornication is a sin?

You make valid statements. In terms of a civil code for living socially, the religious world could do with a bit of reform so that it looked for the love in its heart than the hatred and condemnation of others.
The only thing wrong about being gay is that people are such bigots you suffer by their prejudice.

According the Christianity, it's not a sin to be gay. It's a sin to carry out the act of gay sex. So being with another man or another women will give you a one way ticket down to the barbecue pit. LOL.
...I agree to just let God deal wtih it. In the end it's all that'll matter anyway.
