James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain.
James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Depending on religion to save you is a one way ticket to hell, we know that. Claiming religion when you don't walk the walk is hypocrticial. My question is when did doing religious things and being truely religious become a bad thing? I hear preachers and christians bashing the word 'religion'. Reading this part of the Bible tells me that religion is God honoring and very important in the life of a born-again-christian. Tell me what you think

The word "religion" as it's used today has come to mean saying memorized prayers and doing ritualistic acts, none of which are pleasing to God. He wants us to pray from the heart and not count on doing symbolic things to get us into heaven. He would rather that we clothe the naked and feed the hungry than put on a fancy robe and sing in the choir, in my opinion.

The James quote seems to indicate that religion is about actions rather than words. That is the opposite view to the one that most christians espouse here.
It became a bad word when the churches became more about maintaining power and oppressing the general population

In quoting your referenced
text, it says "Pure" religion, and it tells you what that pure means. We have now left
pure religion and are trying
to be pure while under the yoke
of heavy oppressors. Religion is no longer about lovel....it is about rules and sin and the
preaching that "nobody is
worthy enough". The meaning of true religion has
changed a lot from what it was intended.

The be conscious Christian grew to alter right into a foul be conscious politically using fact Christianity isn't meant to be political. that isn't any longer meant to be in contact in secular government. in spite of the undeniable fact that, from the time the Messiah kicked the bucket, politicians, extremely, political philosophers from everywhere in the common pagan international at that factor began encroaching into Christianity diluting the religion with their perspectives. The Romans, extremely Constantine, wanting to end the disputes between pagans and Christians declared Christianity as a state faith. And thereafter, the Roman Church, Catholic Church, masquerading using fact the authentic Christian Church Christianized could pagan customs. and those customs are tied with political tenets. as a result, Christianity, the dilluted Christianity grew to alter right into a political be conscious. It grew to alter right into a foul political be conscious using fact, Christianity began to be fragmented alongside the strains, no longer basically on doctrinal strains, yet on political themes. it truly is the clarification why there are maximum of religions now masquerading as Christians. I wish i could desire to declare extra, yet area does not enable me.

religion is only bad when u cling to a belief instead of taking it as an idea.people die for beliefs but if its an idea then they can change it to better suit their life and their own views.as long as we help others and dont think to much of ourselves we should be fine.
