When I was 19 years-old, a co-worker of mine (who seemed very hostile against God) made this comment to me: "Say what you want, but God is a cosmic tyrant full of Himself, and I refuse to be a pawn in His power struggle with Satan."

If you "choose" not to choose, you've still made a choice, correct?

Your thoughts, please. As usual, only serious and intelligent responses welcome.

Revelation 20: 11-15 would be a good place to start, but there are lots of other Biblical references to use. What did Jesus have to say about it when he was on earth? What is the purpose of the Judgement?

I am quitting my job next Thursday and I'm giving the boss my notice tomorrow (8/23/07). This has been a terrible job with a terrible boss, but I want to at least give a one week notice just so it doesn't look like I abandoned the job (although she totally deserves it!!!). I know you are supposed to say something positive about the company and your job, but frankly I don't wan to and I know it will come off as fake. I just need simple ideas on what to write and what to say when I give it to her. I will never work here again, but I don't want her to bad mouth me if potential employers call for work references. I'm also going to give her a self-addressed stamped envelope so she can mail my last check (I don't want to see her face ever again). This is what I have so far:

Circumstances require that I resign my position here at _________effective Thursday, August 29, 2007. I have decided to take this time to evaluate my current goals and investigate new opportunities.

Any more ideas?

I would say it would have to be at night, or in the early morning. My favourite place is still the altar.

My mother told me when my birthday past that she was treating me to a nice hotel in atlantic city, i turned 26. I didnt really want to go. Well she wants to go for one night.stay over, leave the next day. Now she mentioned to me shes not sure which credit card to use to charge it, cause she owes alot of money on all her cards. I told her to forget it, its ok, we dont have to go. Problem is she told my brother were going, he asked his boss for the day off to go. And hes set going. The room is $330 for one night, its a suite but only 1 big room, which means my brother would be sleeping in there. He snores, we have nothing in common, hes a heavy set computer geek, all he talks about day and night is computers, his job and all his money, nothing else, hes also socially inept. When he sits at dinner, he looks all around to make sure no one is looking at him, gets nervous when a pretty girl talks to him, etc..
Noe hes demanding to go, i dont want to, am i right?

If you don't believe in God, do you believe in miracles? If so, how can you believe in one and not the other? Doesn't it take a higher power to perform a miracle?

I happen to believe in both but am trying to understand a different point of view.

My mother is Catholic and had raised me Catholic as well. She sent me to Catholic school until I begged my father to send me to public school at age 13.

I am 20 years old now and no longer live with either of my parents but went to my mom's house last night and had dinner with her. Before eating our meal my mom says "We need to think of a new blessing (prayer) because we've been using the same one forever." I just smiled, I didn't see a need to bring up my beliefs over one little comment. Then she proceeded to pray, and I just looked down out of respect but didn't say a word or do the sign of the cross. This is what I always do when people pray around me, I just look down out of respect but do not participate.

I thought it would have been inappropriate to bring up my beliefs and tell my mom that I am atheist at that time because she had not asked, she only assumed that I believe what she taught me to believe.

com and love film since Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994, are watched over bottles of chardonnay, amid forced weeping, drama and hysterics every time a woman is dumped, and whereby any member of the party who fails to cry hysterically when Briget Jones is dumped, for example, is immediately branded a b itch behind her back when she goes to the toilet; but while pretences of female solidarity are played out every secret thought is directed to what she would like to do to Hugh Grant if she got him alone and she wishes these stupid cows would bugger off so she can think about it in greater detail?

Suppose you have a friend that all year round tells you that you have to be good because Santa is watching. They constantly warn you about driving above the speed limit, not coming to a complete stop at stop signs, telling your spouse you're on the way home when you know you haven't left work yet, sneaking a piece of cake when you're on a diet, and even telling you what you SHOULDN'T be doing with your significant other in the bed or any other part of the house. They tell you that just because no one else sees or cares, Santa sees everything, and all of those things will put you on the naughty list and he won't bring you any presents at christmas. Not only that, but some new wrinkles to the usual christmas ritual, he now gives you to bad luck that can cause you to get into accidents and even die as a result. Your friend truly believes all this is true, quotes from a collection of children's stories, and points to the number of people that die in accidents as proof. Should you tell?

I was reading a Michael Vick article and saw PETA mentioned. I have seen their name enough that I decided to look them up and see what they were about.

"PETA believes that ... like you ... [animals] are capable of suffering and have an interest in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use — for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason."

Wow! The go a little overboard don't they? I don't wear fur. I don't eat shark or whale or dolphin. I think it is ridiculous how some experiments are done on animals in the name of science or health when it involves something like make-up or perfumes and such.

I don't think we should ban true medical use. They are invaluable. And as far as for consumption goes: we are omnivores that eat both meat and plant. I admit I eat a burger or hot dog every now and then. Most people in the world do.

Let's assume that this extra-terrestrial life is vastly more intelligent than us. So much so, that they were able to travel through space to find us. If God created the universe, how would you feel if the universe included beings superior to humans? How would this affect your faith? Would this cause you to question your beliefs in God?

If yes, what brings peace into your life? If no, what will it take to happen in your life to bring you peace? Personally, I'm at peace. I've fought my own spiritual demons and lived to talk about it. What happened in my past has made me a stronger person, and I'm thankful that I've gained this strength. What is your story, if you have one?

Brothers can feel free to contribute to this as well:)

sisters.. I was considering the account of Mary and Martha in the bible. That these two sisters are a true picture and pattern for us as we serve in our own churches and homes.
Both Mary and Martha sat at the feet of the Lord to listen to His word. Some would say that Martha was Miss busy busy and was too occupied with serving the Lord with food to sit still at His feet to hear what He had to say...
Some would also say that Mary chose the better way because she dropped everything and sat at the Lord's feet and because of that she truly HEARD what He was saying regarding His death and Resurrection.
I put this to you sisters that we need to be a combination of the two. Having a Serving spirit. One that does not just jump up to do what we THINK the Lord wants but being those who sit at His feet listening to His preference then rising up to serve with a serving spirit all the ones under our care.
Share your own experience ty:)
