Because it is distracting to have someone running around taking pictures as though they were at the state fair. It detracts from the sense of reverence.

How a person worships God can be a very personal thing. It's a matter of respect. Many times the ones wanting to take pictures are not believers in what the church teaches and so it seems like mockery. Many feel an intense connection to their faith and don't think someone can appreciate it from a photo taking it out of it's over all context.

LMAO @ looking like idiots. I don't know I attend a Pentacostal church and love to worship. I don't know why you were not allowed to photograph in the Church, besides maybe that it is a sacred place and out of respect. I know when I was in Europe you couldn't take pictures in the Abbey's, oh to of had photos of the inside of Westminster or the shrines at Endinburgh Castle or the Tower of London.

Castro- Pentacostal Churches don't have Preists. Get informed before you attack.

Then the church didn't object, it was some members. May I assume that you are not a member of the church? If you were at a labor hall meeting, or the Kiwanis Club, etc., I would imagine there would be members there that would object also.

Our pastor does not like photos taken during the moments when a sacrament is being effected (such as consecration of the eucharist) because he wants your attention focused on the real and present nearness of God.

This is for the same reason that Moses was told to "remove your sandals, for the place where you are standing on is Holy Ground." (Exodus 3:5)

James,
There are people everywhere that would prefer you NOT take their picture. A church is no different than any other place. I suggest that you ask in advance and take their answer as what you should follow. Have a nice day.
Thanks,

1... It's a church!!!.....either you belong to the church or not; either you're a believe or not: Show some respect!!!!

2...You need to ask the pastor for permission before you do that, unless is a wedding, that they know ahead that people will be taking photos.

Your head is not only to grow hair!

All worship services including Muslims do not allow you to come in and take pictures - why? Distractions I think.

Sounds like a personal member thing more than a church thing.

None of the churches I have been in were against that.

If you look at the New Covenant (New Testament), you will always find some group objecting.

Answer: Take all the pictures you like. Unfortunately, your camera will not see the Holy Spirit.
