Suppose you have a friend that all year round tells you that you have to be good because Santa is watching. They constantly warn you about driving above the speed limit, not coming to a complete stop at stop signs, telling your spouse you're on the way home when you know you haven't left work yet, sneaking a piece of cake when you're on a diet, and even telling you what you SHOULDN'T be doing with your significant other in the bed or any other part of the house. They tell you that just because no one else sees or cares, Santa sees everything, and all of those things will put you on the naughty list and he won't bring you any presents at christmas. Not only that, but some new wrinkles to the usual christmas ritual, he now gives you to bad luck that can cause you to get into accidents and even die as a result. Your friend truly believes all this is true, quotes from a collection of children's stories, and points to the number of people that die in accidents as proof. Should you tell?

You should enlighten them.

Sadly, for some, no amount of education can erase their own ignorance because they choose to remain ignorant.

if i had a friend that told me this, and truly believed it. I would try to support her in her beliefs, because she is trying to live a better life for herself. But I would also try to find a way to politly tell her while that is the version of santa she believes in, that is not the santa i believe in and maybe we shouldn't discuss it. If she insisted on bringing it up after I tried to change the subject, I would have to consider if it was worth the friendship to either keep talking to her and ignore the conservation or keep talking to her and try to convince her that her view is not mine so please stop talking about it.

I think that is ok to talk about Santa to children but don't keep saying Santa is watching everything you do. I would also try and tell them about the history of Santa. Did you know that the real Santa was St. Nicolas. He was a rich man who became a monk. He went around giving away his wealth to the poor.

No, it is not but it is not healthy for someone go overboard about the subject.

But Christmas is not about Santa. It is about celebrating the birth of Lord Jesus. He is not a meek and mild baby in the manger. He is all powerful God who can turn your life around if you just let Him.

It's not wrong to tell... but I don't think I'd waste too much time on trying to explain something like that to someone who obviously doesn't want anything But that. I would most likely end up staying away from that person.... Good thing about it though... they won't be trying to take away Christmas vacation. *wink*

If he does not tell you that it is only a story but only makes it sound true, than it is wrong.
