Handling the Qu'ran?

Question

Are there certain things you do and dont do when handling the Qu'ran, the book itself?

This is a serious question. If you feel the need to leave rude or offensive comments, dont bother. I will report you.

first of all, before you touch the qur'an you must perform ablution.

for the most part, it's pretty accurate.

after doing so, you can open the qur'an and read it
just never set it below your feet, or have your feet be above it, & i'm not sure on this but some say not to set it on your lap. but as far as that i'm not sure.
- never set anything on top of the qur'an
- don't treat it disrespectfully, like sitting on it or anything like that.

handle it with respect. It is the words of Allah, do not disrespect it. You must have wudu to hold the Quran. Women wear head coverings before reading the Quran as a form of respect.

The obvious things you don't do with the Quran is step on it, or hold it in a disrespectful manner. Always keep the Quran on the highest shelf as to show respect.

Hold it always with the right hand if you cannot use them both. You must be clean in and out. Ladies should wait the end of their periods before touching the Cor-an or praying. Put the holly book on a clean table. Set it on a towel or small rug like the one that Muslim people use to pray. Never put the book on the floor or wherever people sit. Store it high enough so kids and pets can't reach it. Never take it with you to the bathroom. Don't treat as book...treat it as gods words.

We have to have wodhoo when reading Quran... cz we might touch the words... if we don't have wodhoo... we have to be careful not to touch them...

We have to respect the book... so we can't place it on the ground or beneath a pile of books... we don't put anything on it... so we put it up on the highest shelf...

We kinda treat it like a valued guest... we don't stretch our legs towards it... n stuff like that... :)

confident, you should be a state of formality purity, see Sura 5:6. different traditions are to place it on the utmost bookshelf on your place, no longer under different books. not at all place it on the floor. whilst interpreting it or reciting from it place it on an extra desirable holder or table.

Well for handling Holy Quran you will have to be clean & pure. To do this, u will have to do Ozu (What muslims do before prayers) and will have to recite some dua.

ur supposed to do wudu, which is like a half shower, u must handle it with respect

it is just a book, made from papers nothing special at it, but when you read it and believe on what it is trying to say then you should respect it and the most importantly practice what it trying to say in your everydays life...and that is the most important of all not the physical form of the book it self.
you can read it in your bed, dining table, or even toilet (i never did it) if you think it is just a book, some read it in the ditch (during a war time) it doesnt really matter as long as you read it and believe in it ,if you believe in it you will never read it in toilet anyway and always make your self clean before you read it, as being clean is part of being a moslem anyway (not many people know this in my country though)
