I was wondering what would you have thought was the best solution to this problem?

It happened last winter, during a particularly cold snap (our climate is usually fairly temperate even in winter), I went with a friend who is a social worker to do a home visit...when we arrived it was to a partially wrecked home next to a bayou out in the country...since Hurricane Katrina has left many ill-housed in the last two years, this is no shocker)...smoke billowed out of the door of the dwelling and an old man was dipping water out of the bayou to put out the source of the fire...they had tried to build a fire in an old stove but had inadequate pipe, so the smoke was coming back into the house...a baby was sitting in the driveway in a play pen unattended...the situation was one of squalor and hopelessness...the temperature was due to dip into the 20s that night...so my friend reluctantly called the department of human services to come to get the baby...she hated to do it...(cont)

i remember seeing a bible quote on tv, not exactly sure what chapter. it said "he who believes in me(God i'm guessing, or jesus) shall recieve eternal life". i don't get this because: most christians i have met are under the assumption that atheists go to hell, right? but if they go to hell eternally, isn't that technically eternal life with out believing in God???

Not to generalize, but why do many who say they are open minded, are open minded usually only about every other belief besides Christianity? What does this mean? And is this spoken of in scripture? Additional: Please dont answer with because we "shove" religion, etc. If youre open minded, youre open minded, period, right?

Okay, so from what I've heard, the child takes on the religion of the mother? Well, that makes me Jewish, but my family and I never, ever go to church or even talk about God. But the thing is, I don't believe in a lot of Jewish beliefs. I'm pretty satisfied with Christian beliefs, but I'm curious about the whole converting thing? How does that work if I want to be a Christian?

Creationism is a reasonable alternative to evolution. After all, one of the principles of science is that every effect has a sufficient cause. Creationism posits a sufficient case for our existence as persons: a personal God who is morally holy, intelligent and self-existent.
By saying that science can make statements about the origin of the universe, evolutionists are assuming that the very same laws involved in the operation of the universe are adequate to explain the origin of the universe.
That is similar to saying that the very same laws that explain how a car functions are sufficient to explain how the car was designed and built. They aren't, because the origin of the car needed the guidance of intelligent beings.

how?
Its a thing viler than any sadist on the earth can concoct. Painful fire never ever ending - it is almost impossible to imagine. Surely God could have made burning fire for a few minutes and then the extinguishing of souls instead. Was Jesus was just making a metaphor for something else? And doesn't the bible state that most people on the earth are going there?

From what i've seen in the world and on Yahoo and on television, there are several key differences.

Straight people are afraid of and/or hate GLBT people, while the GLBT people seem just fine with the straight people.

Straight people will dry hump in public and complain about GLBT people holding hands, while the GLBT people just want the dry humping in public to stop.

Straight people have developed all sorts of words and phrases to try to offend GLBT people, while the GLBT people don't really have anything equal to this.

So from what I see...GLBT people seem to turn the other cheek, respect personal space and control their public displays of affection and judge very little.

While the straight community judges, commits perverted acts in public far beyond most things we do, sling names, and insult.

And tell us God hates us..even though the bible says not to judge. And not to insult others. Love thy enemy and all that.

And they say we're confused. What do you think?

Hey, can we vote Fred off the island? I mean seriously folks, this kind of fruitcake theology is what makes people turn away from God in droves. That is not what Jesus asked us to do!
I think the good rev. Phelps missed his era, he would have much better served his master in Nazi Germany.

I have spoken with Christian missionaries and I have argued that I don't believe in religion because there are too many out there with different beliefs, prophets, stories.

I kind of feel bad for arguing but I am trying to use reason, where they are pushing faith and feeling.

Like joining a religion, club.

I joined a religious group and don't want to leave completely because (a) I don't know if I would be worse or better off leaving. (b) I think they might be able to help me in certain areas of dating or employment.

Stop this Black Majority from hogging all the Power!
As any PCer will tell you, We all need a Minority Elite to tell the rest of us what to do.
As we've all learned in England: WTF has a Majority got to do with anything!
Those Blacks should sort themselves out.
As the PCers are sorting us out!

This was taken from A Wolf Raised By Boys. I pretty much feel the same way.

"I'm not religious, but I am curious as to what belief I would fall into based on what I believe. Don't bother trying to convert me, or lying to me, I'm going to stay not-too-religious either way. here are my beliefs:
-I believe in one God as a force.
-Jesus was the son of Mary & Joesph
-The universe was created in billions of years, but that's not to say that God wasn't a part of it.
-After death, humans are judged and place into heaven or hell.
-There is no reason for wrong doing in the world other than humans can be crazy.
-Satan's presence causes suffering
-Worship just God, no holy trinity
-Baptism important
-Confession shouldn't be necessary
-Doing good deeds is important
-Abortion, homosexuality, equality between sexes accepted
-Divorce should not be prohibited
-War, under some circumstances, may be necessary
-Medicine is preferred over prayer as a way to heal
