I have spoken with Christian missionaries and I have argued that I don't believe in religion because there are too many out there with different beliefs, prophets, stories.

I kind of feel bad for arguing but I am trying to use reason, where they are pushing faith and feeling.

I basically argued that there are too many religions and they are all saying they are right, but they pray a lot and God still hasn't told them which religion is right. I argue this point over and over but some don't see it.

There are some good things about religion but there are also some strange beliefs, so I have mixed feelings about religion, whether Mormon, Catholic, Judaism, Buddhism, Jehovah's Witness.

I think each to their own - without pushing another Religion onto anyone else and respecting what they believe in, as they should respect you. ღღღ

You do not believe in any religion because there are some beliefs/prophets/stories are false?

That does not mean that the beliefs/prophets/stories cannot be examined.

Some religions, ones that are based in historical fact, require reason. I know there are some out there that people can't even argue about, but with many, you can.

There is nothing wrong with arguing in the right context, without being *too* rude. Christianity, at least, can be backed with reason. Although some people push faith and reason, that is not the whole picture. No one (Well, at least not me) would want to believe in something that was untrue. So there is nothing wrong with aruging - I say, just ask people who know the answers. There are many uninformed followers of religions, but there are also many scholars and apologists. (Well, I am talking about Christianity here, since I don't study other religions... I can't answer for them)

Just because there are many false beliefs/prophets/stories doesn't mean that people should not try to pick out the truth from them.

Not all religions believe in an active diety. Perhaps all religions are like darts on a dart board. All around the bulls-eye, but not hitting the bull's-eye. Or maybe one is? O_o

Anyways back to your question. NO, it isn't WRONG. Not many things are. But whether it is best is debatable. Trying to change someone's beliefs when they are being closed-minded, is like trying to move a semi with your bare happens. It is highly unlikely to happen. As i'm sure you've probably seen, people will deny observable things, because they are closed minded that their beliefs are absolutly RIGHT, and so it can't be. That said, arguing about it is more of a waste of time and energy :P It is far better (i think) to just laugh, lol. It never ceases to let me down.

How many religious books say "In the beginning God?"

The Mormons and the Jehovah Witnesses have changed the original Word of God to agree with their beliefs. Both were created by false prophets. Joseph Smith created the Mormon Church and he was a false prophet. Charles T. Russell founded the Watchtower Society of the Jehovah's Witnesees. He didn't like certain things in the Bible so he changed them and started his church. To me even the Quran sounds like the Muhammad version of the Bible. Allah was picked from 360 idol gods and Muhammad talked to an angel of light who the Bible teaches is Lucifer and Satan. Allah was the crescent moon god of old.

This earth is a tiny matter compared to eternal life. It is not wrong to argue with religious groups because your eternity is very important. Jesus the Christ said, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?"

I chose Jesus and I love the Word of God, the Holy Bible and I read the King James Version Study Bible.

I don't believe it is bad because when I am argued with over my believes it only strengthens mine, it makes me think about what I believe and talk about the word of the lord to another. Yes as believers we push faith and feeling. But what better way. Feeling get us through life, gut feelings, feelings telling us we are sick, and feelings which strengthen our belief in the Lord. Why does to many believing in different religions turn you away from God? There are many different beliefs out there yet if you follow the bible accept you are a sinner and live in Gods light you are becoming a follower of Christ, which is what God wants, everything in life becomes apparent after that faith guides you along.

If both parties are consenting, I don't see any problem with having a debate about religion. After all, every man and woman is different - we think differently, feel differently, see things from different perspectives. I think it's interesting to speak with people who have differing views from mine. The world would be an extremely boring place if we were all drones who thought and acted exactly alike.

The only time I'd say it's unacceptable is when it becomes a war of insults. Disrespecting someone for their beliefs (or lack thereof) isn't cool in general. However, there will always be some people who ignore every valid point out of your mouth and insult you with some retarded statement that seemingly comes out of nowhere. I guess it comes with the territory.

There is nothing wrong with having discussions about religion. But arguing gets nowhere. Arguments about religion usually stem when a person tries to force their beliefs on the other person. Religion is something that cannot be force-fed to somebody. If I am having a discussion and feel like it is headed into an argument, I change the subject.

I'm very cynical about religion. I've read the bible all the way through, it wasn't convincing. Nor very interesting.

People have tried to explain to me why God/Allah/Bhudda/ is great and almightly and gave me life and so on. But I don't find it easy to believe. I've not seen any proof of any God, no clue to his/hers/their existance.

So, I argue with verious people about religion quite a lot, but I usually end up frustrated.

I don't think it's wrong, I think it's perfectly right, but I think it's wrong to try and make people follow a belief system they don't truely have a reason to belive in.

Yeah. I end up in many arguments about organised religion that means that a child is brought up with stories and tales of god and so on and so forth, and told that it is true.

That annoys me just a little. They hear all of this when they are very impressionable, and it almost brainwashes them.

There I go again. Don't flame me. I am just speaking my mind, if anyone agrees, it's up to them. If you disagree, don't argue with me, it'll only end in frustration and a wasted hour/evening/day/weekend/week/fortnight/month/year/lifetime.

You argue and argue a point that most see and you don't. Maybe it's your eyes or just that old sin nature keeping you from actually facing some facts.
Did you ever listen to the message of these missionaries or just wait for your opportunity to argue your point which is no point in fact.

Arguing will do nothing, religion has been around forever for a reason. You can point out the obvious, but in the end people will always believe what they believe; just like you believe that religion is wrong they believe religion is right. That is what seperates people of reason and logic, with fools who believe in Devils, Gods, fairies and mystical creatures. Religion will always flourish in a world where people must find a meaning to their exixstence, they simply cant understand the concept of reality.

‘Christ according to the faith, is the second person in the Trinity, the Father being the first and the holy Ghost the third. Each of these three persons is God. Christ is his own father and his own son. The Holy Ghost is neither father nor son, but both. The son was begotten by the father, but existed before he was begotten--just the same before as after. Christ is just as old as his father, and the father is just as young as his son. The Holy Ghost proceeded from the Father and Son, but was an equal to the Father and Son before he proceeded, that is to say before he existed, but he is of the same age as the other two. Nothing ever was, nothing ever can be more perfectly idiotic and absurd than the dogma of the Trinity.’

- Col. Robert G. Ingersoll

God is not the author of confusion. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
