Yes, but some of it went over my head.
Pray in the Spirit first thing & when God puts on your heart what to read in the bible, obey. And read the bible with God the Holy Spirit.
It is written to renew our minds in the Word of God. The Truth sets us free. The Holy Spirit brings to our minds scripture when we need it most. I guess the last time the Holy Spirit had me read Ephesians more than once. I just read hear & there now, as the Spirit leads.

Several years ago, I took part in a Disciples class at my neighborhood Methodist Church. We systematically read through the entire Bible in the course of one year. I learned a lot about the Bible and myself in the process and made some very good friends.
P. S. Just because you have no faith, don't dismiss the faith of others. Not all Christians are hypocrites; most that I know about try to live the best lives they possibly can, witnessing for their faith daily, and if necessary using words.
Admittedly, much violence exists in the Bible when passages are taken out of context since the Old Testament in particular records the good, the bad, and the ugly. The begets are, of course, part of the Hebrews' oral history, and many of the stories in the Old Testament are similar to those told by any pre-literate people. Taken as a whole, however, the Bible adds much to Western cultural history.
Couldn't political correctness (and an openness to all cultures) extend to Christianity?

Just because you find it boring doesnt mean everyone does. Some people chose to be bored by it because they have first chosen not to read it. Some people dont really want to know what it has to say and so they find justification not to carry through. Like the same reason you dont study your history book or try at math. Dont think for a second that reading the entire Bible is a rare event

Yes I did. When the "New English Version" came out I read it from cover to cover, well actually I kind of glossed over the begets, but beyond that. Before I started I decided not to read it as the bible, but just to read it as a book like any other book. What a shock! Much of what I had been taught was in it was not. Much that was in it I had never heard before. And so much of it was just plain nonsense to any rational person. I quit thinking of myself as a christian and took up the study of Gnosticism. The wisest thing I ever did.

Yes, I was raised Catholic, though i am not a Christian anymore. I have read three different versions cover to cover. There were some great parables. I found of some of the wrathful God, miraculous tales, and the fantastic imagery in Revelations entertaining. But overall it was bogged down in details such as lineages, and many of the letters (which have less relevance in modern times).

Several times. Go to the book store and get a reading schedule or a one year Bible devotional. It will make things easier. Also I use a "Life Application Bible" it has all the notes and explanations right along with the text. This makes it a lot more interesting.

Yes, I have twice, and now I spend my time in studying different Books of the Bible and the Sunday readings. Our group is often amazed how there is something new for us to learn in each Lesson we go trough. I would suggest you stay with it, and find a Bible study to join, where you will share with others what you have read, and others will share with you. God bless you

Yes, I have and the New testament three times.
It took a year and one month to read it and think on it.
It is very interesting and a goal I had.
You think the bible is a hard read/boring. Try reading the Quran all the way through. Another learning tool.

buy the "One Year Bible" you read a chapter of OT a Psalm and NT 30 min a day and in one year your thru it, the way it lays it out you read it by date , the date is on top of each page, so it's easy no flipping back and forth the put the texts your to read side by side..so all the boring stuff like building the temple etc. is just a few short verse....try it it works.
