If so, could we name this the Roddenberry effect?

I've just noticed that whenever someone asks a question about Star Trek or Sesame Street it's mostly atheists that respond (not entirely but largely) and get the reference.

Is it coincidence?

To start out, earthly wisdom seems to be about observable
consequenses, trial and error, etc. and divine wisdom is
much deeper, also with eternal perspective. Empathy is
talked about a lot these days in psycology as well (earthly
wisdom).

What is one of your favorite scriptures on wisdom and why?

I posted this question earlier today, but only received
3 answers - I guess it was too early - I also reworded
the question.

People come together and discuss God, Religions and Beliefs.
I would love to speak to agnostics, christians, atheists every sort of belief system people. All in one room.
Dont you think more knowledge can be gained from a meeting with all religions together than just sticking to discussing these things with people with the same beliefs?

How does anybody know that the snake was satan? The word Satan isn't even used once in Genisis, who else could the snake have been?
In revelation it describes the fall of 'satan' but satan just means advesary. The 'satan' in Job doesn't seem evil, and the 'satan' in revelation may be an entirely diffrent person. In the Old testament only lucifer is a fallen angel.
Guys! give me actual proof...
there isn't any proof at all that lucifer is satan, nor that lucifer was the snake.

Come on. Be honest.

Has anybody ever worn a goofy t-shirt like Mork from Ork saying "Shazbat" or Arnold saying "What you talkin bout Willis"?

How about something totally ridiculous like "Mondale/Ferraro '84"?

Go ahead. We won't tell.

Ok, earlier I asked a question about the definitions of lust and coveting. I asked at what point does a desire (not sexual or "immoral" per se, but just in general) become lust or coveting.

Here is the question:

(hold on, I'll get the link)

Then I answered another question that kind of goes along with what I meant in the first question. So anyway, my answer is here (it ends with the same question again).

I find myself at a company where touching seems to be commonplace. This makes me uncomfortable. I find it unnecessary and very unprofessional. I don’t mean to sound frigid or antisocial, but I was brought up to respect personal space and was taught that physical closeness/touching is an intimate thing that is reserved for family, close friends and significant others.

The thing is, I don’t comprehend by osmosis. So, if you are explaining something to me, then you needn’t put your hand on my shoulder or back. I understand you quite well via the use of my ears. Likewise, if you are speaking to me, then you needn’t stand so close to me that your nose is merely inches from mine. I have no hearing impairments. I hear quite well. What really gets me is when I take a step back; the close-talker takes a step forward. When I have said, “Please don’t touch me”, the “toucher” does it again down the line.

Why is it so difficult to respect someone’s personal space?

I just would have thought that New World ODOR would've been pretty obvious.
And okay, perhaps it was a lame joke, but some people actually appeared to take me seriously.
Perhaps they missed the deliberate typo?

First lets define religion would you agree that RELIGION is an ORGANIZED WAY OF WORSHIPPING SOMEONE OR SOMETHING? if that is the case then we would want to know who the true God is & worship him in a manner that would please him right? remember he doesn't need US, WE NEED HIM remember when Jesus came it was people of his own religion that hated him, why? because he used the scriptures to overturn their traditions (Matthew 15:7-9) . . .OU hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about YOU, when he said, 8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’. . .

now what about us are we willilng to make the nessasary change or just stick to what we want to believe, it didn't work for the Jews

Please explain why you guys disfellowship members in the congregation for committing a sin?
And please don't quote that scripture in the Bible where Paul was addressing the congregation saying " if a brother is unrepentant cut him off from the congregation"
Reason being if you read lower done in that same Chapter you would see that Paul told the congregation "to keep admonishing him as a Brother"
Try explaining it to me some other way.

It is clear to me, that this is an emotion that we use for the affect of building up strength and tolerance in ourselves.

But exactly why is that? Could you see, moving yourself through tremendous difficulty without 'suffering' them? Seeing as how emotion is actually 'injected' into our experience and not a part of experience itself. People prove this all the time by not handling circumstances the same, feeling different about the very same thing, etc, etc. So, we don't treat equally the medium of suffering. To 'suffer' is choice, and not a condition of our world.

What WOULD that be like?

Could you see yourself without 'suffering it?
