Rich people are generally not concerned with issues of race-

could it be because they aren't competing for resources like poor people are?

In sociological terms, Race and Class are inextricably intertwined. I don't really feel like going into it. But, you can simply research William Julius Wilson. He wrote several books dealing with this topic: The Declining Significance of Race, The Truly Disadvantaged, When Work Disappears: The World of the New Urban Poor, The Bridge Over the Racial Divide: Rising Inequality and Coalition Politics, There Goes the Neighborhood: Racial, Ethnic, and Class Tensions in Four Chicago Neighborhoods, Their Meaning for America,Good Kids in Bad Neighborhoods: Successful Development in Social Context, The Declining Significance of Race: Blacks and Changing American Institutions.
These are his most notable works. I would start with There Goes the Neighborhood. Hope this helps.
Further, you may want to look into Roger Waldinger, Stephen Steinberg and Adolph Reed .

you question confuses me. you say rich aren't generally concerned with race issues yet bill gates according to you is..then there's every rich person who's voting republican simply because of immigrantion laws-a race issue-then there's all the democratic folks who are running for president and they always bring up race issues-again they are all rich.

I think most people ARE concerned with race no matter how much money they make..not matter what you or others want to believe-RACE IS A BIG PART OF WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON. only one's who haven't figured that out yet are kids in highschool or lower grades because once you get into the real world you'll learn other wise and change your tune.

and how do poor people compete for resources? there's no universal health care so they can't be doing it there. you mean for jobs? well I think that most people are competeing for jobs with companies which keep outsourcing

I think its a good thing when people who are rich actually give money to help others.

Bill Gates will forever be a nerdy geek. I don't even think he finds the time to get so hung up on race since he spends most of his time in front of a computer monitor. At least, we have him to thank for, for his contribution to the whole world. I honestly used to suck at handling computers, let alone, understand what a software was used for.

I am sure Mr. Gates would express an opinion on the subject of race if he were asked. If he were to begin offering unsolicited opinions on race, I am sure that there would be people of all races telling him to quit yakking on a subject he is not qualified to comment on publicly and get on with what he does best. Most white people live by the "One Race - The Human Race" philosophy and see no need to offer unsolicited comments and opinions on the subject of race as doing so would be seen by many Black people as patronising.

Rich individuals are not as inclined to show racism because they have much more to lose than middle and lower class people. For example, look at Michael Richards. He pretty much kissed his career bye-bye with his racist comments....and the reason people were shocked is because he kept it so well hidden for so long. Rich people do not want to risk putting their career and lifestyle in jeopardy so they have no choice but to try to hide their inner-racism.

sorry, but i know plenty of rich people and plenty of poor people and i know that generalization is a bunch of bs. out of both categories, poor people, in my experience, have been the most accepting of people of all races. if a rich person is racist, usually they won't act like it unless they're behind closed doors. they'll act politically correct when they're in public, but when you get to know them they cannot hide it. of course, this isn't true about all rich/poor people, but it is what i have noticed.

I think intelligent people tend to be less racist, and intelligent people tend to make more money.

I hope he figures out that illegal aliens are going to destroy this country. With his money, he could build a fence with guards trained to shoot to kill.
